The Lord can communicate with us in Words, Feelings and Pictures.
He mostly communicates with us through spontaneous thoughts. These thoughts sound like our own thoughts but they are spontaneous, They flow into our mind from our spirit through the Holy Spirit. We do not start them, they light upon us. When we choose to think on something it is analytical-Analytical-to be able or inclined to separate things into their constituent parts in order to study or examine them, draw conclusions, or solve problems, the reasoning part of the mind.
As we become more skilled in recognizing these ways of communication from the Lord, our relationship with Him will deepen.
Incompatibility between our spirit and our mind is one of the greatest hindrances to walking with God in the Spirit.
All spiritual communication eventually has to register in your mind.
This then poses a problem; the mind can be inadequate in recognizing and processing spiritual communication.
Nothing in a person’s life is closer to the spirit than his mind. The mind is the mechanism for learning matters in the intellectual and material realms; our spirit is the mechanism for perceiving realities in the spiritual realm.
Both work very closely together and need each other.
The Bible speaks clearly about these two functions:
Ephesians 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
May God give you The Spirit of revelation (apokolupsis) which is Spirit communication to your spirit that you may know.
We need a clear, sharp, renewed mind if we are going to walk with the Lord in any degree of clarity and reality.
The Holy Spirit moves in our spirit in communication, this in turn is communicated to our mind so that we can “walk according to God in the spirit” 1Pet 4:6
This movement from your spirit to your mind takes only a fraction of a second. It is so quick it seems as one operation.
You cannot walk with God in the spirit without your mind playing a complementary role.
Walking in the spirit involves walking in your spirit, soul, and body before the Lord.
Our mind is a vitally important link in enabling us to hear from God, therefore Satan will attack your mind.
Our brain is part of our physical body. It is an incredible organ with millions of glial cells and miles of circuitry, it has infinite storage capacity. Our brain records and stores incomming information in words, pictures smells, feelings etc.
It can be programmed and will run according to its programming.
When programs in your brain are triggered, that program will run, affecting your behavior patterns.
Animals have a pre-programmed brain. We call this instinct. When a tiny crocodile hatches out, it heads straight for the water. Who told it to do that: Its brain, its instinct, is pre-programmed.
Your brain has to be re-programmed. We have to remove from the brain all the wrong programming. This wrong programming or this spirit of Anti-Christ has to be erased. It has to be programmed with truth.
God will communicate with your spirit, but your unrenewed mind will reject it, won’t accept it. Your brain will run it’s programs and reject the truth.
Our brain is referred to as the natural mind
I Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind [is] enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The spiritual mind is in harmony with the Lord and our spirit.
One of the greatest hindrances to walking with God in the spirit is the unrenewed mind, the natural brain.
God will give you spiritual revelation (communication) so that your mind can have knowledge. The first aspect is a knowing intuitively, the second, is a knowing mentally.
God is after compatibility between the mind and spirit
From the earliest age of our lives, our brain has been in the process of being constantly programmed, with bad and good things, with truth and error.
If this renewing of the mind does not occur you cannot walk with the Lord in the spirit very effectively. Your mind will become a bottle-neck to spiritual communication.
When God is speaking to you and your brain does not compute with what God is saying, that communication from the Lord will be confused at best, totally rejected at worst.
God is after compatibility between mind and spirit.
When your mind is compatible with your spirit, transformation will begin in you.
Luke 11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when [thine eye] is evil, thy body also [is] full of darkness.
The word single in this Scripture is the Greek word haplous meaning: “to be in harmony with.”
The word evil means, “to be out of harmony with”.
This verse of Scripture is saying: When your mind is in harmony with the spirit you will be full of light.
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
This level of transformation is seen in Mat 17:2 when Jesus was transfigured.
Matthew 17:2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
The word transfigured here is the same word as in Rom 12:2 transformed (metamorphoo) by the Renewing of your mind.
Jesus was full of light (glory) by this process of transfiguration.
Luke 11:34 If your eye be single you will be full of light.
When there is harmony between your mind and your spirit there is no hindrance to the flow of God into your life. You will be transformed.
The mind is renewed (re-programmed) by receiving revelation.
When God’s word is made real to you by revelation (Rhema), old values, concepts, that are contrary to God’s word are erased and replaced with truth and reality.
There are two kinds of Knowledge recorded in the bible. Two Greek words are used for knowledge in the New Testament.
Gnosis is the Greek word for intellectual knowledge, that which is learned by the mind without any spirit involvement.
Epignosis is the Greek word used for knowledge acquired through a spiritual encounter by revelation.
We call this Revelation Knowledge. This kind of encounter with the Lord the Living Word, touches our heart, and emotions and it brings life and renewal.
It reprograms your mind, imparting Godly values and truth.
Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls- James 1:21
We have to approach God’s Word with a certain attitude-with meekness. We can’t understand God’s word unless the Holy Spirit reveals it to us.
When your head is saying one thing and your spirit another you have confusion.
When there is harmony between your soul and your spirit there will be no limits to the flow of God into your life
Meekness is a dependence that says, “Lord I need you to make real your Word to me”.
Meekness also denotes an attitude that believes that God’s Word is true, even though we don’t understand it.
When God spoke to Abraham and said “you must not circumcise your children until the eighth day”, Abraham did not understand why. Gen17:2
He didn’t know that the clotting factor in a child’s blood was not operative until the eighth day.
When God said “spare the rod and spoil the child,” (paraphrased) Prov 18:24, many think, that does not really apply today. We know better. We understand the psychological effect of things today better. That kind of arrogance will cost you dearly.
When God said that He had a very good reason, whether you understand it or not, is immaterial.
We must approach the word of God with meekness. It is true whether we understand it or not.
When we come to God’s word with meekness we open ourselves up to revelation. That revelation is a Living Word, an engrafted word.
Engrafted: Means implanted. A living thing produces what it says or is. It SAVES THE SOUL, not the spirit. The mind by this process is renewed.
You are what you eat: When you eat an apple it becomes part of you. Tissue, bone, cells.
This is true in what you feed into your mind, it becomes part of you.
What you listen, see, hear. Television is responsible for imparting more anti God concepts than any other medium.
It implants values, concepts that are totally opposite to the heart of God: Watch what you look at.
The renewing of the mind requires that you receive by revelation the Living Word, and that you guard what you feed your mind with.
Once the mind begins to be renewed, you will begin to hear more clearly the voice of the Lord.
A narrow mind, will limit the ability of God to speak to you about great things, large things.
Moses was brought up in an environment where anything was possible. The Pharaohs built great pyramids, their world was a large one this had a great effect on Moses, on his mindset.
When he had to confront Pharaoh in latter years and take two million people through a wilderness, his largeness of mind could accommodate what God was asking of him. Once our mind has begun to be renewed, God’s voice will begin to come through with more clarity and preciseness.
You will begin to recognize the promptings of the Holy Spirit. That spontaneous flow of thought, which comes from God, will be clear.
We have learned to walk in the body with all of it’s feelings and sensations, such as: Heat, cold, tiredness, hunger, pain. We have learned to recognise these feelings and sensations and respond to them adequately.
Lay aside everything that defiles the mind. Come with meekness. This is an attitude that has a certain approach to God’s Word.
We have learned to walk in the Soul likewise, with all of it’s feelings and movements such as: Joy, Fear Love, Anger, Jealousy, Compassion.
Now it is time we learned to walk in the Spirit Man, in the Feelings and Sensations of the spirit man. To walk In the Burdens, Checks, in our spirit, in the movements of the spirit man. To walk in the senses of the spirit- first love, the fear of God, reverence, intuition, revelation, faith, hope, prayer
Let’s clear away the clutter, the things, which hinder and find our way into a walk with God.
The mind is vital to walking with God in the spirit.
Nothing in our life is more close to our spirit than our mind.
We must not Deny, Put Off, Crucify the mind. It is the natural mind of the Old Nature, that is at enmity with God. We are now a New Creation, the mind needs reprogramming with truth. Never allow your mind to become passive or blank. Keep control of your mind at all times.
One of the greatest hindrances to walking with God in the spirit is the incompatibility between our mind and spirit. The mind must be renewed and be in harmony with our spirit.
Profound change occurs in our lives when the mind is renewed. This transformation is achieved when our mind is compatible with our spirit and there is no conflict between the two. We then become full of light and transfiguration begins transforming our Body and Soul.
A narrow mind will limit the ability of God to speak to us of great things
