Understanding ourselves

We are spirit, soul and body. We are not a spirit that has a soul and lives in a body.

When our spirit entered the womb of our mother our human body began to form and our soul was created. Our spirit existed before this but not our soul. Our spirit came out of heaven and when it entered the human body the soul was created.

We are now no longer just a spirit, but we are spirit, soul and body. But the eternal part of us is our soul and spirit, not our body. It is time to get to know our soul and spirit and the difference between them.

Having been born with a human body, which is the only visible part of us, we became limited in our understanding of the unseen realm. Our flesh and blood body now veils us from the kingdom of God, which is in the realm of the spirit.

This is why Holy Spirit must draw us to Jesus, and convict us of sin. The root of the word sin in the Greek is not having an inheritance.

To receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit has to overshadow us and the Father commands light to shine in our spirit, which is the conception of the Living Word, the seed, the D.N.A of God in our spirit.

When our spirit is enlightened it removes the veil of the flesh, so that we can see and enter into the Kingdom of God, which is in the realm of the spirit.

We now become a new creation, born from above. We have the seed of God in our spirit which has to grow and develop, and we have a soul that needs to be transformed by yielding and submitting it to the Lord ship of Jesus over our spirit.

The seed of God in our spirit is our inheritance. We become complete in Christ. Within the seed of God are all the attributes of God, the divine nature.

But the seed must grow up into the full stature of Christ. The seed of God is incorruptible, but there are things in our soul and body that can hinder that growth of the seed.

WE MUST REALIZE THAT OUR SOUL HAS DIRECT CONTROL OVER OUR SPIRIT. Our soul is our individuality and is what makes us different from other people.

Our spirit is identical to Jesus Christ and the members of His body, it is one spirit. But our spirit must now grow up, be enlarged, be expanded, so that our spirit comes to the fore front of our consciousness and the veil of the flesh is removed so that we can walk and move in the Spirit.

Our soul is the part of us that controls our spirit. Our will is centered in our soul and directly related to our spirit. Unless we exercise our will to walk with God, our spirit will not grow up into the image of Jesus Christ.

Proverbs 16:32 he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city.

We have to rule our spirit, make it to have dominion over our soul, so that our soul does not act independently of our spirit.

The problem we have is the incompatibility between our spirit and soul. Our soul has been formed from the outside in through the senses of our body. Our soul now needs to be transformed from the inside out.

Our soul has to be transformed (occurring now, metamorphóō from metá -change of place or condition and morphóō- to change into another form, to convert one form of energy to another)

We have to live by the life or energy of the spirit which causes our soul to come into conformity to the image of Jesus Christ.

When we turn to the Lord, the veil is removed and we enter into the presence of the Lord where there is freedom, and with unveiled face, beholding in a mirror the glory of the Lord are transformed into the same image from glory to glory- 2 Corinthians 3:16-18.

Many Christians are confused and do not understand the difference between the soul and spirit. We often do not know what part of ourselves is our soul and what part is our spirit. Are we living in the realm of the soul or the spirit? The Word of God says there is a difference.

This difference is vital because we must nourish and grow our spirit and prepare it for eternity. It is who we become now that determines our function in the kingdom.

Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The Word of God is living and active continually penetrating until it separates the soul and spirit.

There is such a close resemblance between the soul and spirit of man that only God’s Word, the sword of the Holy Spirit, can divide asunder and illuminate the difference between the soul and spirit.

It is so important, as the coming of the Lord draws nigh, that our spirits are prepared for their eternal ministries. There is no more time for delay.

Yet many who think they are preparing their spirits by their much religious activity are really only blessing their souls. This soulish realm of us enjoys much attention. It feeds itself on emotions and feelings, while the spirit is left infertile.

And because there is such a “fine line” between the soul and spirit, we do not even know the difference between blessing our souls and nourishing our spirits.

We need to see the needs of our spirit and hear its cry, deep within us, for the real thing. Your spirit is tired of religion. It is crying out inside of you for truth and reality.

It is time to turn away from the emptiness of religious activity into the rest of God and to minister to our spirit within us.

There is a walk in the spirit that most of us have never arrived at. Yet, it is there for us, waiting from the foundations of the earth. We must learn how to walk in the spirit to fulfill our destiny
