Regulation over reaction

Lately, many of us have been carrying a quiet heaviness. The recent explosion of lengthy exposures of well-known leaders, both those who abused their power and those who stayed silent while knowing, has left people feeling shocked, disappointed, confused, anxious and emotionally drained. Then, there is the constant barrage of voices, each holding different opinions, perspectives, and beliefs, which can feel more overwhelming, frustrating, and mentally exhausting.

Friends, it’s draining your nervous system. Some of you feel on edge, overstimulated, or unsettled in ways you can’t quite explain. If that’s where you are, please hear this: there is nothing wrong with you. What you’re feeling is a normal response to grief, betrayal, a loss of safety, moral injury, spiritual disillusionment, fragmentation and broken trust. God is close to the weary, and He knows how to hold you while things feel shaken.

Today, choose regulation over reaction.

Limit how much content you consume about these exposures, as constant intake can retraumatize the nervous system. Take a walk, breathe deeply, place your hand over your heart, and remind yourself: I am safe in this moment.

Let God re-anchor your faith in who He is, not who others claimed to be. Healing doesn’t require rushing to conclusions, but space, honesty, and rest–SELAH
