Laying the right foundation

To walk with God, we need to hear his voice which comes to us in various ways, but they mostly come through what our spirit is sensing, which comes from the inside of us (our spirit). But if we are not aware of our spiritual senses, God will speak to us from the outside in, people, circumstances, and many other ways. https://glorytogodministries.site/our-spiritual-senses/

The main way to hear the voiced of God is through our spiritual sense of intuition, it is a knowing, a feeling, a check in our spirit, this does not feel right, or our spirit witnesses to it.

But there is danger because we have a current belief system, in which we may have been taught false doctrines in the church which we are attending. Then we do not have peace about what we are hearing, because our brain does not compute.

Our brain is a function of our physical body and is like a computer and has been programmed by the sermons or teaching that we have heard in church.

Our brain is not our mind, it cannot think, it must be programed by our soul or spirit. And this happens through revelation from God and repetition, the is why we confess the Word out loud so that it reprograms our brain.

Our mind is a function of our soul, and is like a switchboard or an interpreter, it interprets what our body is sensing, or what our spirit is sensing.

Therefore, it is important to get all our spiritual senses functioning. The list I gave in my teachings is still expanding; there may be some spiritual senses that I am not yet aware of.

Our spiritual senses, or functions, become gateways. The light or life of God flow from Christ in us, the glory in us, the kingdom of God in us, various names but essentially the Spirit of God inside our spirit.

So, it is important to learn through experience how these senses function. The life of God flows from the kingdom of God inside of us, into our spirit through one or more of its senses or gateways, and then into our soul (mind, emotions, imagination) so that we can understand what God is communicating to us. I have some teaching on the gateways of our spirit, soul and body on my bible school website, but need to make a new one, that explains them more thoroughly.

This is why we must have the right spirit, and all our spiritual senses functioning, so that we will not be deceived by old belief systems, the doctrines we currently believe. https://glorytogodministries.site/blog/a-right-spirit/

In order to walk with God, we need to learn how to hear God’s voice, It is a lot easier to hear God’s voice if we are filled with the Spirit.

Learning to hear the voice of God is really a quest. It’s not something that we learn quickly, but with perseverance you can learn to hear the voice of God.

So often simple things become complicated. The church makes things complicated, but what really does the Lord require of us? What does He expect of us?

Micah 6: 8   He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Three things. But to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God.

What does it mean to do justly. It means do the right thing (live by His righteousness). Do what is right according to God’s word and God’s New Covenant commandments.

Secondly, to love mercy. Be kind, forgiving, considerate, loving, all those things which are attributes of God. Don’t be vindictive. Don’t look for revenge but be merciful and forgiving.

Thirdly, to walk humbly.  Now these qualities are the result of having a right spirit with God.

We must appropriate His righteousness in our lives. Or else we will not have a clear conscious and this will block us from hearing God.

We must love mercy; we forgive others and are always ready to lend a helping hand. We are not critical or judgmental; we do not force God’s will on people and tell them what to do. We see all people in Christ and do not speak down to them but impart their legal identity in Christ to them. When we tell people who they are in Christ, they may not at first believe it, but it imparts a seed.

A spiritual principle that helped my life was to find who I am in heaven and then behave accordingly.

To walk with God, we must be established in our legal identity in Christ, so that we begin to see ourselves that way.

And to come out of deception (this applies to all of us) by hearing God’s voice we must walk humbly.

1 Corinthians 8: 1 Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.

You must have the idea that you know nothing. The more you learn about God the more questions you have. This is hard for ministers, even if you have a ministry of healing, miracles, signs and wonders does not mean that you know God.

The question- is it really possible for us to walk with God like Moses, Abraham, Noah, Enoch, David, Joshua, the 12 Apostles and like other people in the Bible who walked with God?

Or is this just for a few mystics or a group of special people?

Genesis 12:1 Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.

Abram was living in Babylon, and he heard God’s voice and obeyed it.

Exodus 4: 11 So the Lord said to him… 12 Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.

Moses had this kind of walk with God.

Deuteronomy 28:1 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.

We must listen diligently to the voice of God. Now he was speaking this to the whole of Israel. It is possible for you and I to be able to hear the voice of God.

We start out with the Bible, the written word of God, it is God’s voice to us when the Holy Spirit interprets it correctly. And then “or” at the same time we begin to hear the voice of our spirit in union with God, coming into the faculties of our soul where we understand it-spontaneous thoughts, emotions, vision.

You know, the New Testament is full of incidents where people heard the voice of God and walked with God in this way (the personal voice).

Revelation 3: 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Dine deipneō means spiritual communion, feast- eat rich provisions.

When we commune with God we are partaking of the divine nature. We receive the divine provision of the cross or we obey his voice and participate in the divine nature.

God is no respecter of persons. He wants you to walk with Him. The Bible says, God spoke to Adam in the Garden (Gen 3:9).

Now this was after Adam sinned and lost his spiritual connection with God, he heard an audible voice.

So, even after you have sinned God still wants to communicate with you. Through Christ he reconciled the whole world to himself (2 Co 5:19).

So, the enmity is not in the heart of God, it is in the mind of man. The only qualification necessary is to want to do the will of God (John 7:17).

God has been talking to you for a long time, so this teaching series is to help you recognize his voice.

But first things first. We really need, to lay a proper foundation, that we can rely upon, a foundation which is necessary for all of us to be able to walk with God.

Matthew 7: 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!

Ok, my teaching is going to be different from what you have heard before, like Jesus said in his ministry, you heard it said but I say unto you.

Jesus was in the age of the Old Covenant which he fulfilled. And was speaking about the age we are in now. When Jesus was in his earthly ministry, he said the kingdom was near.

But when Jesus rose from the dead, made propitiation for our sins, and received his coronation as king of kings. The Kingdom of heaven is “right now” in a different dimension, that you can see spiritually now, enter into it spiritually now, and eventually inherit the kingdom which means to be a king under the king of Kings.

Now this was at the end of his famous sermon on the Mount.

Matthew7:28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. 8 :1 When He had come down from the mountain.

Matthew 5: 1 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated HIS DISCIPLES CAME TO HIM. Then He opened His mouth and TAUGHT THEM, saying:

When Jesus was teaching his disciples, and they did not understand what he was saying, they only knew, he was the Messiah. After Jesus was raised from the dead he breathed into the disciples the Holy Spirit and opened their understanding (Luke 24:25; John 20:22).

Jesus spoke mostly in parables, but a lot of what he said was prophetic about the age of the old Covenant that was coming to and end and the New Covenant that came into existence when we were co-crucified, buried and rose and were seated together with him.

Matthew7: 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

The word knew ginōskō means to know, in a beginning or completed sense. It is talking about a real intimate relationship with God.

We are living in that day, entering into the kingdom, speaks of entering into the kingdom realm of the spirit right now.

Matthew 7: 24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Now, we’re talking about foundations. If you don’t build on the right foundation, there’s going to come a time when the whole thing will collapse around us.

And the right foundations for hearing the voice of God is very, very important.

And we need to understand what they are. You know, we have a lifestyle that is compatible with God’s requirements.

The Bible speaks about different kinds of relationships with the Lord. But particularly he talks about two kinds of servant relationships with the Lord.

You know, it’s important to recognize that in hearing the voice of God, we’re not talking about spiritual gifts.

Spiritual gifts are not an indicator of spirituality. You can move in the gifts of the Spirit, you can move in the gifts of healing. And Jesus said, I never knew you. I really didn’t know who you were. We’re not talking about gifts of the Spirit.

We’re talking about an inner quality of life, an inner hearing, learning to hear the voice of God. And God requires certain things of us. And our understanding of these requirements is absolutely Essential.

I want to talk to you about a bond-servant relationship. The Bible talks a lot about this. And though it’s not so much evident on the surface, the Bible talks a lot about this.

You know, we have this phrase which often some of the apostles open various scriptures on the beginning of something they were writing with, I, the bond servant of the Lord.

And we hear that quite often. For instance, in James 1: 1 James, a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

So, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ. Peter talks about in 2 Peter 1: Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ.

Titus 1: 1 Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ.

At first glance, we just see those words, a servant of God. But what they’re saying is they’re two different words for the word servant in the Greek and in the Hebrew.

And we really need to look at this. In the Hebrew, there are two different words for servant. One is the word sharath, which means hired servant. The other one is `ebed, which means a bondservant.

Now, also in the Greek, there are two different words for the word servant. One is diakonos, which means a servant, minister. There’s another one, the other word is doulos, and this means a bondservant.

Now what we need to understand, there is a world of difference between these two words.

One is a hired servant. The other is a bond servant. Now, this is illustrated in the New Testament. Now we’re talking about foundations, things that must be in place if you’re going to hear from God.

Exodus chapter 21 and verse 2. If you buy a Hebrew servant, six years he will serve you, but in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.

Exodus chapter 21 and verse 3 If he came in by himself, he shall go out by himself. If he were married, then his wife shall go out with him. If his master had given him a wife, and she had borne him sons and daughters, a wife and her children, shall be her master, but he shall go out by himself. And if the servant shall plainly say, I love my master, my wife, and my children, I will not go out free, then it says, the master of the house shall bring him to the judges.

He shall also bring him to the door, or unto the doorpost, and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl, and he shall serve him Forever, this was a bond-servant commitment.

This foundation must be laid in your life. It’s very, very important. The bond servant says, “I don’t want to be free”. I want to serve the master for the rest of my life. And so, the master of the house would bring him to the doorpost, put his ear against the doorpost, and take an owl and punch a hole in his earlobe.

Now this wasn’t just a little prick. It was a real hole, about the size of my little fingernail here, and it left quite a hole in his ear, a large hole.

And this was very, very significant. Now, what kind of servant are you? Are you a hired servant? Or you are a bondservant?

Paul said, I, the bondservant of the Lord. Peter said, I, the bondservant of the Lord. Different kind of word that was being used.

Now let’s look at the difference here. You see, a hired servant was different to a bond servant. For instance, a hired servant got paid wages. Secondly, he could spend his wages any way he liked. Thirdly, he could have days off. And he could spend those days off any way he wished. He also could marry whomever he wanted. He could quit at any time. However, he could also be fired. That’s the hired servant.

Now, which kind of servant to God are you?

The bond servant was different. He had no days off. He was on call 24 hours of the day. He didn’t get paid. He has no money of his own. He cannot own anything. He has no rights. He can marry only whom his master chooses for him, and he must obey without question.

Two different servants altogether. What kind of servant do you?

This is the foundation that must be laid first if we are going to hear clearly from the Lord and clearly hear the voice of God.

Now, the bond servant had some great privileges, and I’ll list them for you. First of all, the master promised, to take care of him for the rest of his life.

He said he would provide everything that he needed for the rest of his life.

The master said he would protect him also for the rest of his life. You know, a bondservant was given much responsibility.

You know, Abraham had a bondservant, and that bondservant controlled and governed the whole of Abraham’s wealth. Tremendous responsibility. And Abraham gave him this kind of trust.

In fact, the Bible tells us that, you know. Listen to this. In Genesis chapter 24 and verse 2, And Abraham said to his elder servant, this is his bond servant, of his house that ruled over all that he had. So, this servant ruled over all that Abraham had.

And he said, I pray you put your hand under my thigh. He said, and I will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell.

Now note, he ruled over all that Abraham had. He had tremendous authority, tremendous privileges. Genesis 24 and verse 10, it says, and he took, and the servant took 10 camels of the camels of his master, and departed, for all the goods of his master were in his hand. Imagine that.

And he rose and went to Mesopotamia and to the city of Nahor.

You see, this bond servant had great privileges. You say, well, what’s this got to do with hearing from God? Really? What does this mean? What’s this got to do with hearing from God?

Well, first, you see, the bondservant had his ear pierced. This was a symbolic act, and it signified from that moment on, this bondservant had ears only for his master’s voice.

He didn’t listen to anyone else. He didn’t obey anyone else. He listened to his master. That hole in his ear for the rest of his life signified that he was no longer just a servant, a high-end servant. He was a bond servant.

And he had a healing relationship with the Lord. You know, the Bible tells us in the book of Leviticus chapter 4 and verse 8 that the priest was consecrated by putting oil and blood on his ear. He was consecrated.

See, that ear was consecrated to the master’s voice. Can you remember the dog and the master’s voice on those old records? There was a dog listening to a big megaphone, listening to his master’s voice. He could only hear his master’s voice.

You see, if we are going to clearly hear the Lord’s voice at all times, It is very, very important that we settle this first.

There is a cost to hearing the voice of God. There is a cost, you see, of being able to really know the voice of the Lord. It doesn’t come cheaply.

And it’s important that we understand this. Foundations are important. If you don’t lay the right foundation from the beginning, you’re not going to be able to really hear consistently the voice of the Lord.

The first foundation that the Lord requires of us is to come into a bond-servant relationship with the Lord. What kind of servant are you? Right from the beginning, this must be settled. Hearing the voice of the Lord and walking with this kind of relationship doesn’t come cheaply. It requires an absolute commitment and surrender to God.

You must become a bond servant. But all those things which I read out to you before, which were so important, this commitment, you know, was very, very important. You had no days off. You were always on call to the Lord’s voice. You don’t get paid. But you see, the difference was everything that Abraham had was in the masters’ hands. The Lord just gave Abraham everything into his control. He could spend it, but it wasn’t his. It was the master’s voice. It was belonging to him.

He would hear from the master and spend it as the master dictated. But it was all in his hands. All his wealth was in the hands of the bond servant. He had no days off. He could not marry whom he chose. He had to only marry the one that God gave to him. He couldn’t quit at any time. Not like the hired servant. He was there for life. He had no rights. He must obey without question. And I want to challenge you today, you know, this bond servant relationship is very, very important, and you really need to come to terms with it, because this foundation has to be laid first in your life.

Listen to this about Jesus. Jesus had this relationship with his Father. Isaiah 50 and verse 4, And the Lord had given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary. He wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear.

Now listen, and I was not rebellious to his voice, neither turned away my back.

Romans chapter 12 tells us, I beseech you by the mercies of God that you present yourself as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto the Lord, which is your reasonable service.

Now, are you willing for this kind of commitment to the Lord? Because if you’re not, we really can’t go any further. Hearing the voice of God requires this one servant relationship. And it is very, very important that this is settled.

I’m going to ask you to think about this. It’s wonderful to hear the voice of God, but there is a cost. Are you willing to make this kind of consecration, this kind of commitment to the Lord of your life?

Just bow your head with me now. Father, we just pray in Jesus’ name, that everyone who is reading this, that you’ll touch them by your Spirit. Bring them into a commitment, Lord, that is real, a lifetime commitment of surrender to you.

We ask your Holy Spirit to come and speak to their hearts today. In order for this foundation to be laid in their lives, so that we can build upon it as we continue through this series on how to hear the voice of God.

I pray, Lord, move upon them by your Spirit. Help them, I pray, in Jesus’ name. This foundation first must be laid in your life if your going to be able to hear the lords voice consistently.
