Hebrews 12:18For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:
21And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake.
22But ye are come unto (completeness of action-approach as to location) mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
We have not come to Mount Sinai where they closed their ears and entreated that those words should not be spoken. They could not bear to hear: they said, ‘Moses, you go and hear the word of the Lord. Bring it to us and we will try to do it, but we can’t hear it, we can’t bear it.’ When God speaks now, it will be different.
We have not come to that, but ye are come unto Mount Zion. This is mystical in its content because it is speaking of the whole spiritual realm of the kingdom. A mystic is somebody that believes they can encounter God through experience. When we pray our spirit becomes present in mount Zion. We come to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaketh better than that of Abel. Verse 24.
The blood of Abel cried out to the ground for revenge, but the blood of Jesus cries for mercy and help for us, so we are come to something entirely different than what they came to in the Old Testament at Mount Sinai.
25See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29For our God is a consuming fire.
“God once spoke from Sinai, and the mountain trembled, and there was darkness. The people couldn’t bear to hear the word that the Lord spoke, and they entreated that it not be spoken to them anymore. And God spoke to His people henceforth by the priest and the prophet.
The priest would be the spokesman of the people before the face of God, and the prophet would be the spokesman of God to the face of the people. No longer did God speak His word directly to the whole congregation of Israel, God spoke by an intermediary.
But now we are coming to something else; we are coming to Mount Zion, to the spiritual realm of the kingdom. And when we come to this, He is not going to be speaking from the earth, but from the heavens, and He will shake everything that can be shaken.
God speaks to us by his Son, we have the mind of Christ and when we are aware of the kingdom realm inside of us, there is a flow of revelation; this is the mind of Christ.
When we learn how to enter the dimension of the kingdom, we begin to hear God for ourselves. When the fear of God gate is open in our spirit, we experience the holiness of God, we experience the consuming fire. We literally tremble and shake and it is hard to stay in the fire. We see everything in our heart that is not like the Lord, but the fire does not consume us, we actually embrace the fire.
As we experience the baptism of fire, we are enabled to separate the precious from the vile and become an oracle of God.
This word will shake not just a mountain; but will shake everything that’s been made. Everything that can be shaken will be removed out of the picture. And then we will receive a Kingdom which cannot be shaken.
As God’s living word is coming forth to His people in the heavenly realm of the kingdom, there is a phenomenon that has to be understood; our lives are being shaken. Our whole life will be deeply shaken, right down to the foundation.
It is the baptism of fire that literally shakes our entire life structure. We become immersed in the Holiness of God. We are just seeing our life through the revelation of the Holiness of God. This happens through the fear of God gate in our spirit being opened. Once it is opened, we can tune into it and we can also turn it off because it is intense. It helps us to apply the blood to our past and blot out the memory of everything that we have done independently of the Lord.
Then we have to learn how to open the reverence gate in our spirit so that we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. Our serving God is our spiritual worship, where our spirit is joined with God so that we participate in the divine nature where it is out worked in our life.
Through the fear of God gate in our spirit, God begins to shake our individual lives until everything has to go under the searchlight of God with the question, “Is this something that is to pass away and be removed?” It is through the fear of God gate in our spirit that God begins to establish the Lordship of Christ over our spirit, soul and body.
The Lord is speaking from heaven, if we want to rule and reign with Christ in the establishment of the kingdom of God upon the earth we have to go through the fire.
The heavens will be shaken, Eph 6: 12 for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (NASB)
