By the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony

The blood of the covenant is a most important truth in the Passover teaching. The blood of Jesus Christ, our Passover, is the means by which everything in heaven and earth is to be reconciled unto God, and one of the great instruments through which the Remnant in the end time will overcome Satan.

And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels going forth to war with the dragon; and the dragon warred and his angels; and they prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast down, the old serpent, he that is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world; he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him. And I heard a great voice in heaven, saying, Now is come the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accuseth them before our God day and night. And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their life even unto death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe for the earth and for the sea: because the devil is gone down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time … And the dragon waxed wroth with the woman, and went away to make war with the rest of her seed, that keep the commandments of God, and hold the testimony of Jesus. Revelation 12:7–12, 17.

So that we might identify what “the testimony of Jesus” involves, let us read Revelation 19:5–10: And a voice came forth from the throne, saying, Give praise to our God, all ye his servants, ye that fear him, the small and the great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunders, saying, Hallelujah: for the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigneth. Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they that are bidden to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are true words of God. And I fell down before his feet to worship him. (This was John, who knew the voice of his Lord, and he fell down to worship). And he saith unto me, See thou do it not: I am a fellow-servant with thee and with thy brethren that hold the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. In the first chapter of the book of Revelation, John announces himself as one who held the testimony of Jesus.

There are two main factors in deliverance. The first is the precious blood of Jesus Christ, by which Satan is irrevocably defeated, because on His cross He made an open show of principalities and powers, triumphing over them (Colossians 2:15).

We overcome in this hour by the blood of the Lamb. We are in the titanic struggle of the ages, when the manifestation of Christ’s victory will come in signs and wonders through the Remnant. Satan is contesting this because he knows his time is short.

The second factor through which we overcome Satan is that wonderful word of our testimony. That does not mean passing out tracts, have street meetings, or going from house to house and ringing doorbells to witness for the Lord.

It means that Jesus bears witness to His victory, prophetically, through us. The spirit of prophecy is involved in that testimony of Jesus.

Isn’t it significant that, in the end time as God begins to restore, prophecy becomes such a tremendous weapon? It is an instrument that creates, casts down the enemy, and comes to proclaim the extent of Christ’s victory. The prophecies come, and the marvelous thing is that you are overcoming Satan by them. They are not given to you just as a shot in the arm to encourage your spirit; but every prophecy is a stomping on him.

You might say, “Well, I don’t see that the prophecy is yielding very much.” It is. If you can perceive what God has been doing in each life, you will see living, walking miracles. It is not to our credit, but to the credit of the blood of Jesus Christ, the flow of prophecy that has come, and the restoration of ministries who build you up in the holy faith and constantly present to you the perfect provision of Christ.

Little by little His precious blood wipes away not only the sin, but we are justified by it. There is great difference between forgiveness and justification.

When sins are taken away, they are forgiven; but to be justified is to be made absolutely, perfectly righteous in the sight of God. We have a position whereby we stand through the blood of Jesus Christ, confessing sin, and coming humbly to the Lord to present our need.

He gave His blood the day He kept the Passover and said, “It is the new covenant in My blood” (Luke 22:20). It is given for the remission of sins, and to open up a new and a living way into the Holiest of Holies, so that we can come boldly to His throne and find that grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

We open our hearts to let the Spirit of the Lord within us prophesy the absolute defeat of Satan in our lives, and the complete justification by the blood of Jesus Christ that makes us absolutely righteous before the sight of the Lord.

We thank You, Master, for the testimony of Jesus, that the spirit of prophecy within us and the precious blood that covers the doorposts of our hearts, minds, and spirits are not things we have to attain; these are resident within us.

We thank You, that we are sprinkled by the blood of a new covenant that speaks of better things than the blood of Abel; brought into the presence of the Lord by that precious blood, so that He sees us perfectly righteous in His sight, with a spirit of prophecy upon us that we can turn upon Satan, for the accuser of our hearts is cast down.

No longer can he stand before God, for we have overcome him by the blood. We don’t look at our unworthiness or our past sin; we’ve been cleansed from it.

By that new and living way we can come into the Holiest and stand in the presence of the Almighty, worshiping because by the precious blood we have been released from all sin and defeat and brought into the glorious victory of Christ, to stand in it and execute it, to see Satan bruised under our feet, to be brought into all of the glory that belongs to us, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
