We are spirit, soul and body. Our soul becomes kind of a switchboard to interpret what the physical senses receive, as well as what our spirit senses receive.
Our mind is centered in our soul; our soul is our self consciousness or awareness. It is the part of us that connects our spirit with our physical body and is our individuality; it came into existence when our spirit entered our body and we were born a human being and our soul is now eternal.
Our soul is directly related to our physical body and has been conditioned by our physical brain and physical senses. The brain is not the mind; the mind is not the brain. They are totally different and separate and we need to understand this in order to walk in the spirit.
The brain, part of the physical body is basically a super computer. The brain cannot originate thought it is simply a computer. It needs a mind to use it; it is an incredible creation of God. There is no way in the computer world today can get anywhere near matching the computer that God gave us in the human brain . It is capable of processing thoughts and it can be used for thinking, but in itself it cannot think. It cannot originate thought, it can process thoughts. Thoughts can be injected in it. Thoughts can be stored in it. Thoughts can be played back. Thoughts can be put together by our brain because it’s a computer.
But it does not originate thought, it is purely a physical organ and it can’t think of itself, it needs a mind to use it. It can be programmed and that’s the problem, wrong programming.
Our brain has been programmed from the outside in during our childhood and how we have been brought up. When our spirit becomes alive to God where the thoughts of God begin to flow through it into our mind- soul, our brain- the programming of our computer overrides this gentle voice of the spirit, overriding revelation, overriding spiritual concepts as soon as they arise from our spirit, our brain has been programmed to say that is not true. Our brain is always saying, that does not compute, that cannot be so. It is part of our programming and keeps us in unbelief so we cannot get into the realm of spirit.
Our brain has been programmed through logic, which basically comes from the Greek background, Aristotle all those guys. The logic of the Western world and its teaching comes from that type of background. The natural mind, the brain has been so programmed; in such a way that it is totally alien to the way God thinks, the way God operates, to the realm of the spirit. The natural mind, brain cannot know God. The scripture says not only that, it is at enmity, or is an enemy of the things of God.
Our spirit is the part of us that originates thought, the spirit of our mind. Our spirit and soul are tied together. When our spirit comes alive to God our soul begins to receive thoughts coming into it through our spirit from God. But our brain has already been programmed, so that our soul becomes aware of that programming which is a part of us and can block the flow of the spirit. We have a belief system programmed into our brain that will reject thoughts that are contrary to its programming. So it is essential that we become like a little child again so that our brain can be reprogrammed by the Spirit of God.
