The transformed life

Jesus has food to give you that will sustain and heal you. This bread I give you: if you eat it you will live forever. I am the Bread of Life, and all that I am is available to you.”

Eating with the Lord, Fellowship with the Lord is, and should always be, our lifelong goal. It must be the most important thing in our lives.

Often, the Scriptures equate eating together with fellowshipping together. The connection between eating together and fellowshipping is interesting. Jesus said this:

JOHN 6:53 Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live forever.

Jesus said that He is the bread that came down from heaven, and if we eat this bread, we will have the kind of life in us that will sustain us forever.

Jesus went on to say that if we eat His flesh and drink His blood, He will dwell within us. In other words, something of His eternal substance will be imparted to us that will cause divine life to take hold within us.

1 KINGS 19:5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat. 6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again … 8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

In this remarkable event, the prophet Elijah walked for forty days and nights on the strength of a small cake that an angel had baked for him. This Old Testament incident pointed to Jesus, the bread which came down from heaven.

JOHN 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. Eating the words of Jesus has the power to sustain and quicken us in a way that we have very little understanding of.

As we fellowship with the Lord, in conscious awareness of His manifest presence, our inner man (spirit) is fed and receives life.

When this process becomes a daily occurrence, our spirit starts to enlarge and becomes full of the life of God. This in turn begins to overlap with our soul and physical body. If we daily partake of it, the Living Word and awesome presence is sufficient to keep us alive forever. Enoch would still be on earth today if the Lord had not taken him home through translation.

ROMANS 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Are we Growing in stature?

LUKE 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. The word stature does not mean just physical growth; it also means inner growth, the spiritual development of the inner man or one’s spirit.

This process is supposed to be a daily occurrence. Just as we need natural food to sustain us and promote physical growth, even more so do we need spiritual food on a daily basis to keep us spiritually alive. Feeding on mature spiritual food on a daily basis will help us reach the place described in Ephesians 4:13:

EPHESIANS 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Unfortunately, most Christians go for months without spiritual food, without being in the manifest presence of the Lord Jesus, without conversing with Him and hearing His words, which are spirit and life. Knowing Him is the only thing that matters. It is out of this that ministry flows. We can only give what we are and what we walk in. This can only come by knowing Him, walking with Him and fellowshipping with Him on a daily basis.
