Hades

Math 13: 9Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. 10And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. 12For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath. 13Therefore speak I to them in parables (full of hidden meanings, comparison): because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. 14And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing  ye shall hear, and shall not (double negative-no-never) understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not (no-never)perceive: 15For this people’s heart is waxed gross (render callous, dull of hearing, unfeeling), and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time (whether perhaps) they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted (the action is subject to a condition-not continuous, climatic experience, to turn completely around, It is a change of one’s mind and conduct), and I should heal (to make whole, to free from errors and sins) them. 16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Mathew 13: 34All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: 35That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

Luke 16:14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous (loving money), heard all these things: and they derided him. 15And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God. 16The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. 17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. 18Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery. 19There was a certain (indefinite pronoun- does not refer to any specific person) rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain (indefinite pronoun) beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom (To be in the bosom of someone means to be in his embrace, to be cherished by him as the object of intimate care and dearest affection): the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell (Hades) he lift up his eyes, being in torments(A touchstone, a black siliceous stone used to test the purity of gold, silver and other metals, Metaphorically meaning instrument of torture by which one is forced to divulge the truth, examination, trial by torture) , and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented(To pain, distress in body or mind) in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
