Fellowship of the Mystery of His Will

The “Fellowship of the Mystery of God’s will” is potentially the most crucial truth God reveals to His church these days.

The outworking of this revelation is fellowship with the Father as sons and daughters and being co-heirs with Jesus Christ.

The Ephesian church was probably the most advanced Asian church of the era. Paul teaches this fifth Fellowship with God in the epistle to the Ephesians. His insight into this mystery is relevant today and will empower us to minister through the miraculous in this generation.

Now we are amid the third reformation in 500 years. This great awakening is about the Father, revealed through the fellowship of the mystery of His will.

There are Five Fellowships with God recorded in the New Covenant.

Fellowship with the mystery of His will is the fifth of the fellowships with God mentioned in the Bible. The first four were:

1. Fellowship in the Gospel

2. Fellowship with Holy Spirit

3. Fellowship with His Son

4. Fellowship in His Sufferings

Spiritual Childhood

The Fellowship in the Gospel teaches forgiveness. Forgiveness is the first of the truths that a new believer in Jesus learns:

1 JOHN 2:12 I WRITE TO YOU, LITTLE CHILDREN, BECAUSE YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN YOU FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE.

Fellowship with Holy Spirit invites us to understand and experience the power of God and character development.

Spiritual Maturity

Then Fellowship with His Son develops kingdom authority in our lives, teaching us spiritual warfare and how to displace principalities and powers by overcoming the evil one.

1 JOHN 2:12-13 I WRITE TO YOU, YOUNG MEN, BECAUSE YOU HAVE OVERCOME THE WICKED ONE… I HAVE WRITTEN TO YOU, YOUNG MEN, BECAUSE YOU ARE STRONG, AND THE WORD OF GOD ABIDES IN YOU, AND YOU HAVE OVERCOME THE WICKED ONE.

Here we learn to overcome the devil in our own life – sin, addictions, inappropriate relationships, love of the world.

Then, if we allow Jesus to transform us, the Fellowship in His Sufferings brings grace, humility and growth from one level of glory to another.

God increases our glory through responsibilities, so we learn to take dominion over areas, maybe a home or cell group. Then He may give us authority over a church, then a city, then a nation and so forth.

As we show ourselves faithful, He increases the grace on our lives so we can receive more kingdom glory.

Spiritual Fathers and Mothers

The fellowship of the mystery of His will enables believers to become productive and influential spiritual fathers and mothers.

1 JOHN 2:12-13 I WRITE TO YOU, FATHERS, BECAUSE YOU HAVE KNOWN HIM WHO IS FROM THE BEGINNING… I HAVE WRITTEN TO YOU, FATHERS, BECAUSE YOU HAVE KNOWN HIM WHO IS FROM THE BEGINNING.

This fellowship teaches fathers and mothers the WAYS of God. Similarly, Jesus knew the ways of God as the Son of Man by spending time with the Father.

In the kingdom of God on earth today, we are finding that God is moving Jesus’ Church from denominational focus to apostolic relationships. Worldwide, we see the next generation of apostles understanding the importance of the fellowship of His will. Focus is coming onto the Father in the Trinity.

There have been two previous reformations. The Luther Reformation of the 1500’s focused on salvation by faith in Jesus. The next reformation started in the early 1900’s that focused on the person and power of the Holy Spirit. Now we are in the midst of the third reformation. This great awakening is about the Father and is revealed through the fellowship of the mystery of His will.

Fellowship with Him in the Mystery of His Will

Abba Wants Your Fellowship

Romans 8:¹⁵For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

The word Abba is transliterated from the Aramaic ʾAbbaʾ and is a double expression- Father, my father. In the NT, it is always used to address God and is followed immediately by the translation (Mark 14:36; Rom. 8:15; Gal. 4:6). This double expression was common in the early church.

So, the next word Father is the translation. The word is pater in the Greek and has the definite article before it, there is only one Father, and the word has to do with being a Progenitor. Having the ability to procreate, to have offspring. When we are born from above, we become an actual child of THE FATHER through His DNA being conceived in our spirit, so that we no longer have a human spirit, our spirit become divine.

Calling it fellowship means Abba Father desires to spend time with us, working through what the mystery of His will means for us personally and our ministry.

No Longer a Mystery

This mystery is available to us now through Jesus Christ.

EPHESIANS 3:9-10 AND TO MAKE ALL SEE WHAT IS THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE MYSTERY, WHICH FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE AGES HAS BEEN HIDDEN IN GOD WHO CREATED ALL THINGS THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; TO THE INTENT THAT NOW THE MANIFOLD WISDOM OF GOD MIGHT BE MADE KNOWN BY THE CHURCH TO THE PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES,

Paul says that God hid it until the time of Jesus’ coming as the Son of God. Which means it is a mystery that all can discover.

Kings and Queens Search out the Mystery.

We are kings and queens in God’s kingdom under Jesus the King of Kings.

PROVERBS 25:2 IT IS THE GLORY OF GOD TO CONCEAL A MATTER, BUT THE GLORY OF KINGS IS TO SEARCH OUT A MATTER.

Therefore, it is our glory to search out this mystery. Returning to Ephesians 1, we find the mystery becomes clear through the spirit of revelation:

EPHESIANS 1:17-18 THAT THE GOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF GLORY, MAY GIVE TO YOU THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM, THE EYES OF YOUR IMAGINATION BEING ENLIGHTENED (to see pictures on the screen of your mind, visions); THAT YOU MAY KNOW WHAT IS THE HOPE OF HIS CALLING, WHAT ARE THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF HIS INHERITANCE IN THE SAINTS,

The mystery comes available to us through revelation in prayer and careful study of his word, through the spoken out Loud confession of the Word and the meditation where you come into a stillness where you experience being in the Spirit.

There is Glory Available Through This Fellowship of the mystery of His will.

We will see how the Fellowship of His Sufferings produces glory. Now we find believers can receive more glory once we understand the depth of the wonders of the spirit of adoption as sons and daughters of God.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:17-18 NOW THE LORD IS THE SPIRIT; AND WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS, THERE IS LIBERTY. BUT WE ALL, WITH UNVEILED FACE, BEHOLDING AS IN A MIRROR THE GLORY OF THE LORD, ARE BEING TRANSFORMED INTO THE SAME IMAGE FROM GLORY TO GLORY, JUST AS BY THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD.

The Mystery of His Will Revealed

This is the Cornerstone of Scripture

The following scripture is pivotal to the whole New Testament which is better translated New Covenant. The gospel becomes good news once we understand that God’s original intention was to have sons and daughters. It is not just about forgiveness; the mystery is receiving an inheritance as sons and daughters.

EPHESIANS 1:4-5 FOR HE CHOSE US IN HIM BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD WE EXIST HOLY AND BLAMELESS IN HIS SIGHT. IN LOVE, HE PREDESTINED US FOR ADOPTION TO SONSHIP THROUGH JESUS CHRIST, IN ACCORDANCE WITH HIS PLEASURE AND WILL

Five Central Truths About God’s Will for Sons and Daughters

From Ephesians 1:4-5, we find the following five truths:

1-God’s intention was always to adopt us as sons and daughters, even before Adam and Eve fell.

2-These sons and daughters ARE ALREADY holy and blameless.

3-It is out of His LOVE that He desires to do this.

4-We please God by being in a relationship with Him, not by doing good works, although this does increase favor or responsibility, as we will soon see.

5-Jesus Christ makes this possible for us, THROUGH the New Covenant between Himself and the Father, and we are in the son, so it includes us.

Jesus’s primary purpose was not just to save us from our sins but to make it possible to become sons and daughters by birth.

Forgiveness of sins is an essential part of this plan but is not The Plan.

The goal was to have holy and blameless sons and daughters. Forgiveness is a gift through covenantal atonement.

Understanding the Mystery Changes our Message or presentation of the Gospel.

Many preachers mistakenly think they need to preach repentance from sin as an essential component of their evangelism. However, this brings sin-consciousness instead of focusing on our righteousness in God’s sight.

Instead of focusing on sin, when I preach now, I focus on our adoption as sons and daughters of God, which includes a complete victory over sin. Neither Jesus nor the apostles found it essential to preach repentance from sin in their evangelism.

God Intends to have Sons and Daughters.

Ephesians 1:4-5 teaches us that God had a purpose for humanity before man fell. The Father desires to have sons and daughters for Himself, a Bride for His Son and a Temple for His Holy Spirit.

The First Begotten Son

Some religions struggle with the concept of ‘why God chose to have a Son’. They could ask the question, why would Jesus need to come as the Son of God? Why not come simply as God? The answer is found in our becoming sons and daughters of God. Without Jesus becoming a son of God, we would not be able to be sons and daughters of God.

HEBREWS 2:10 FOR IT WAS FITTING FOR HIM, FOR WHOM ARE ALL THINGS AND BY WHOM ARE ALL THINGS, IN BRINGING MANY SONS TO GLORY, TO MAKE THE CAPTAIN OF THEIR SALVATION PERFECT THROUGH SUFFERINGS.

Jesus opened the way for us to become sons of God. Whilst on earth, He demonstrated how sons and daughters of God act.

He needed to show us what sons and daughters of God could do. We need to understand that God wants to grow us from glory to glory, doing more than what Jesus could do!

Jesus’ “Adoption”

The word adoption found in Ephesians 1:4-5 is Huiothesia in Greek.

The word Huiothesia not only applies to adoption. But a son who went through the Huiothesia legal process became responsible for the inheritance. The son became accountable for the benefits and liabilities of the estate.

This process was so legally binding that if a father went bankrupt, he could find someone to adopt his son under Roman law, which would result in the son no longer being responsible for the debts of the estate.

We have learnt that Jesus became the Son of God at His birth of the virgin Mary, but full responsibility for the father’s house came at His water and Holy Spirit baptism, after He went through the testing of the wilderness coming out in the Power of the Spirit.

Our Adoption

The same applies to us; we become sons and daughters of God when we believe in Jesus. Like Jesus, our full authority and power to perform the Father’s business only occurs through our water, Spirit, and fire baptisms.

Co-Heirs with Jesus

Part of the amazing truth of the mystery of His will is that we are joint heirs with Jesus Christ. What He received we also receive:

ROMANS 8:16-17 THE SPIRIT HIMSELF BEARS WITNESS WITH OUR SPIRIT THAT WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD, AND IF CHILDREN, THEN HEIRS—HEIRS OF GOD AND JOINT HEIRS WITH CHRIST, IF INDEED WE SUFFER WITH HIM, THAT WE MAY ALSO BE GLORIFIED TOGETHER.

This involves Showing Principalities and Powers the Mystery of His Will, that we now have authority over them because we have gone through the adoption process.

Now that we have determined that God’s original purpose was to have sons and daughters, we find that like any father, Abba Father wants to show what the rest of His sons and daughters are capable of:

He wants to show both Holy angels, fallen angels and demons that His sons and daughters on earth can do all things on earth as they are in heaven. He wants to show them the mystery of His will in and through his children.

The Old Covenant Termination was Essential for this to happen.

Jesus triumphed over the principalities and powers through nailing the law to the cross:

COLOSSIANS 2:15 HAVING WIPED OUT THE HANDWRITING OF REQUIREMENTS THAT WAS AGAINST US, WHICH WAS CONTRARY TO US. AND HE HAS TAKEN IT OUT OF THE WAY, HAVING NAILED IT TO THE CROSS. HAVING DISARMED PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS, HE MADE A PUBLIC SPECTACLE OF THEM, TRIUMPHING OVER THEM IN IT.

Plundering Principalities and Powers

Now Jesus wants to show how His sons and daughters can now plunder the devil’s principalities and powers and see the kingdom in heaven come to earth.

MATTHEW 6:10 YOUR KINGDOM COME. YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. How do we achieve this? By doing the same that Jesus did: LUKE 9:1-2

LUKE 9:1-2 THEN HE CALLED HIS TWELVE DISCIPLES TOGETHER AND GAVE THEM POWER AND AUTHORITY OVER ALL DEMONS, AND TO CURE DISEASES. HE SENT THEM TO PREACH THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND TO HEAL THE SICK.

JOHN 14:12-14 “MOST ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU, HE WHO BELIEVES IN ME, THE WORKS THAT I DO HE WILL DO ALSO; AND GREATER WORKS THAN THESE HE WILL DO, BECAUSE I GO TO MY FATHER. AND WHATEVER YOU ASK IN MY NAME, THAT I WILL DO, THAT THE FATHER MAY BE GLORIFIED IN THE SON. IF YOU ASK ANYTHING IN MY NAME, I WILL DO IT.

Principalities and Powers are now in the New Covenant Under Our Feet.

Jesus the Head of the Church. The same chapter in Ephesians teaches us Jesus is the head of the Church:

EPHESIANS 1:22 AND HE PUT ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET, AND GAVE HIM TO BE HEAD OVER ALL THINGS TO THE CHURCH, WHICH IS HIS BODY, THE FULLNESS OF HIM WHO FILLS ALL IN ALL.

We are now spiritually Seated in Christ. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father.

EPHESIANS 1:18-21 AND WHAT IS THE EXCEEDING GREATNESS OF HIS POWER TOWARD US WHO BELIEVE, ACCORDING TO THE WORKING OF HIS MIGHTY POWER WHICH HE WORKED IN CHRIST WHEN HE RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD AND SEATED HIM AT HIS RIGHT HAND IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES, FAR ABOVE ALL PRINCIPALITY AND POWER AND MIGHT AND DOMINION, AND EVERY NAME THAT IS NAMED, NOT ONLY IN THIS AGE BUT ALSO IN THAT WHICH IS TO COME.

So, we are the body of Christ, and Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. Therefore, we also are seated at the right hand of the Father. We are seated in heavenly places.

My new name the Father gave me, when I was born again, was “the son of my right hand”. I never could really figure out why He would call me that? But now I know, because I am seated at the right hand of the Father, in Christ.

EPHESIANS 2:6 AND RAISED US UP TOGETHER, AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS,

So we are in Jesus Christ, seated in the heavenly places. Where are the principalities and powers? They are under our feet!

EPHESIANS 1:22 AND HE PUT ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET AND GAVE HIM TO BE HEAD OVER ALL THINGS TO THE CHURCH, WHICH IS HIS BODY, THE FULLNESS OF HIM WHO FILLS ALL IN ALL.

All things!. All things are under our feet. How amazing that is!

How we Fulfil our purpose, or our destiny.

Now that we have found out that God purposed to have sons and daughters, let’s look at His purpose for this which is included in our personal relationship with Him.

It is not simply to get to heaven or for a future reign in a millennium!. Because we are actually in the millennium now. He wants us to rule and reign now. Looking closely at Ephesians 3:9-10:

Millenium

Expanding this scripture, we find:

EPHESIANS 3:10-12 TO THE INTENT THAT NOW THE MANIFOLD WISDOM OF GOD MIGHT BE MADE KNOWN BY THE CHURCH TO THE PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES, ACCORDING TO THE ETERNAL PURPOSE WHICH HE ACCOMPLISHED IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD, IN WHOM WE HAVE BOLDNESS AND ACCESS WITH CONFIDENCE THROUGH FAITH IN HIM

What was the Eternal Purpose?

The eternal purpose we have seen is to have sons and daughters for Himself, a Bride for His Son and a Temple for His Holy Spirit.

Wisdom

Looking at this scripture, we find that we have a task to achieve through wisdom. If you become a missionary, you will discover that wisdom is an essential ingredient to growing the kingdom of God.

We will see that faith and boldness are vital too, but we have seen revivals die with plenty of faith still present, yet lack of wisdom has been the cause of many failures. On the other hand, it brings transformation when a revival starts and grows by faith and wisdom.

If we lack wisdom, all we need to do is ask:

JAMES 1:5 IF ANY OF YOU LACKS WISDOM, LET HIM ASK OF GOD, WHO GIVES TO ALL LIBERALLY AND WITHOUT REPROACH, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO HIM.

And He will give us the spirit of wisdom: Which is different than the spirit of revelation. The spirit of wisdom gives us the insight how to continually expand the Kingdom rule of the Father in the earth.

EPHESIANS 1:17-18 THAT THE GOD OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, THE FATHER OF GLORY, MAY GIVE TO YOU THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF HIM, THE EYES OF YOUR IMAGINATION BEING ENLIGHTENED; THAT YOU MAY KNOW WHAT IS THE HOPE OF HIS CALLING, WHAT ARE THE RICHES OF THE GLORY OF HIS INHERITANCE IN THE SAINTS,

So, what kind of wisdom does God DESIRE us to attain?

A Manifold Wisdom

Looking at this scripture again, we find that God tells us what kind of wisdom is required – manifold wisdom:

Our primary purpose in this fellowship OF THE MYSTERY OF HIS WILL is to make known God’s manifold wisdom. The Greek word for manifold is:

polypoikilos; is from two words 1-polús Many, much of number, quantity, amount 2- poikilos- various in character: – divers, manifold.

It means a multi–colored cloth and is the only time we find the term used in the Bible! But we find the type of it in the Old Testament. For many students of the Old Testament, this will bring to mind the story of Joseph.

The Example of Joseph

We will learn from Joseph’s example, that God will use the trials every man and woman of God goes through. The fellowship of His sufferings prepares us for the fellowship of the mystery of His will.

The fellowship of the mystery of His will leads us into dominion and glory as we defeat principalities and powers. We do not deliver cities, or people groups, or nations, or continents straight away from the principalities and powers that control them. We grow in our spiritual authority little by little as we learn to use the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit, and then different graces that Jesus gives.

GENESIS 37:3 NOW ISRAEL LOVED JOSEPH MORE THAN ALL HIS CHILDREN BECAUSE HE WAS THE SON OF HIS OLD AGE. ALSO, HE MADE A TUNIC OF MANY COLOURS.

Jacob, Joseph’s father, giving him a tunic of many colors gives a valuable truth when we consider the mystery of the Father’s will.

Joseph is rare amongst the people of the Old Testament in that he did not miss the mark. All the other men of significance had some flaw in their character whereby they missed the mark. For example, Moses did not enter the promised land because of anger. David had sex outside of marriage then tried to cover it by killing the husband.

Prodigal Son

We see the same principle in the Parable of the Prodigal Son:

LUKE 15:22 “BUT THE FATHER SAID TO HIS SERVANTS, ‘BRING OUT THE BEST ROBE AND PUT IT ON HIM, AND PUT A RING ON HIS HAND AND SANDALS ON HIS FEET

Glorious Sons and Daughters

Joseph is the first example of glory, including dominion. His dominion gives us a clue of what God has for us as we grow in this fifth fellowship with God. God wants us to rule and reign in the world we live in, just like Joseph.

However, this was not an easy road. First, Joseph was rejected by all his brothers, then thrown in a pit, became a slave, was wrongly accused, thrown into jail, overlooked for promotion. Finally, Joseph came into his destiny. Joseph rose to the second most prominent position in the kingdom of Egypt, saving the known world of the time, including his family and all the Israelites.

The Example of Paul

Paul, the writer of Ephesians, had likewise experienced many trials. Like the Israelites who spent time in the desert, he lived in the desert for fourteen years. We see that God walks with every man or woman of God through many trials and sufferings. He shows them His ways, just like He did for forty years with Moses, David and Joseph, and fourteen to seventeen years in the Arabian desert with Paul before he was ready to start his journey as an apostle.

We have seen that manifold wisdom is vital in demonstrating God’s plan to principalities and power.

Now let’s read the following two verses after manifold wisdom:

Faith and Boldness: becomes the Other Side of Our Ministry

Wisdom is one side of the coin, but faith and boldness are the other side of the coin and equally essential.

Let me give you an example. Principalities and powers need to understand that there is no longer just one Son of God able to do signs and wonders, heal the sick or raise the dead. There are now potential millions of brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ who can perform signs and wonders, miracles and healings:

God Reveals the Mystery of His will Through a New Covenant

God’s will was always for all humanity, not just the Jews.

His desire was to use Israel as a kingdom of priests to reach the entire world. But could only find two that had the kind of spirit to possess the promised land, and only a few from other nations were converted like Rahab. But the Old Covenant was not faultless, the Spirit of God could come and rest upon a person, but was not able to implant the seed of God in their spirit.

EPHESIANS 1:9-10 HAVING MADE KNOWN TO US THE MYSTERY OF HIS WILL, ACCORDING TO HIS GOOD PLEASURE WHICH HE PURPOSED IN HIMSELF, THAT IN THE DISPENSATION OF THE FULLNESS OF THE TIMES HE MIGHT GATHER TOGETHER IN ONE ALL THINGS IN CHRIST, BOTH WHICH ARE IN HEAVEN AND WHICH ARE ON EARTH—IN HIM

The Old Covenant was Not Fit for Purpose of God to have sons and daughters.

The Lord wants to bring all on earth and heaven together in Him. However, the Old Covenant did not allow this. To bring all on earth together in Him, Jew and Gentile, He had to get rid of the Old Covenant by nailing it to the cross because it was not fit for that purpose.

HEBREWS 8:7 FOR IF THAT FIRST COVENANT HAD BEEN FAULTLESS, THEN NO PLACE WOULD HAVE BEEN SOUGHT FOR A SECOND.

A New Covenant Brings in the Unity of the Spirit and the Unity of the Faith.

Therefore, God made a New Covenant based on faith in Jesus Christ. This covenant united Jew and Gentile by allowing whoever enters into a covenant with God through faith in Jesus Christ to become the people of God.

Paul clarifies this by saying Jews and Gentiles are now in unity and not at enmity with God or each other:

EPHESIANS 2:14-16 FOR HE HIMSELF IS OUR PEACE, WHO HAS MADE BOTH (JEW AND GENTILE, CIRCUMCISED AND UNCIRCUMCISED) ONE, AND HAS BROKEN DOWN THE MIDDLE WALL OF SEPARATION, HAVING ABOLISHED IN HIS FLESH THE ENMITY, THAT IS, THE LAW OF COMMANDMENTS CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES, SO AS TO CREATE IN HIMSELF ONE NEW MAN FROM THE TWO, THUS MAKING PEACE, AND THAT HE MIGHT RECONCILE THEM BOTH TO GOD IN ONE BODY THROUGH THE CROSS, THEREBY PUTTING TO DEATH THE ENMITY.

This new covenant allows both to have access to God.

EPHESIANS 2:18 FOR THROUGH HIM WE BOTH HAVE ACCESS BY ONE SPIRIT TO THE FATHER.

Jesus’s Last Will and Testament

God’s will is our inheritance!

Before someone dies, if they are wise, they have prepared a will for those who will inherit the estate. Here is the definition of a will:

A LEGAL DOCUMENT EXPRESSING A PERSON’S (TESTATOR) WISHES TO DISTRIBUTE PROPERTY (ESTATE OR KINGDOM) AFTER THEIR DEATH. IT SETS A PERSON (EXECUTOR) TO MANAGE THE PROPERTY UNTIL ITS FINAL DISTRIBUTION.

Although God is indeed willing, the will of God is far more powerful than a statement like “As God wills”. It is a legal document.

Insurance contracts have clauses such as an “Act of God”, as if God is in absolute control of this earth. We will see that God is in command, not in control, having given us dominion over this planet.

The Death of the Testator

Scripture confirms that the legal terminology for will is His meaning in Hebrews. After explaining that the Old Covenant had to be done away with and listing the legal New Covenant clauses in Hebrews 8, Paul goes onto explain why Jesus died:

HEBREWS 9:16-19 FOR WHERE THERE IS A (WILL AND) TESTAMENT, THERE MUST ALSO OF NECESSITY BE THE DEATH OF THE TESTATOR. FOR A TESTAMENT IS IN FORCE AFTER MEN ARE DEAD, SINCE IT HAS NO POWER AT ALL WHILE THE TESTATOR LIVES. THEREFORE NOT EVEN THE FIRST COVENANT WAS DEDICATED WITHOUT BLOOD.

Jesus is, of course, the testator who had to die. We discovered that Jesus’ death brought atonement, and now we know that the covenant opened the mystery of His will.

The New Covenant was prophesied beforehand through the prophets like Jeremiah, Ezekiel and Hosea (like a modern-day will). They all prophesied about a coming covenant that would require the shedding of blood.

What is the Estate?

Looking at a will’s definition, we find the will determines how the estate is divided. Spiritually speaking, the estate is the kingdom of God.

Executor of the Will

The executor of the will is the person who determines how to dispense the estate or inheritance. This will is different from every other will because the testator has been raised from the dead and sits at the Father’s right hand. Before going into detail concerning the New Covenant, Paul refers to Jesus as the High Priest of this covenant.

HEBREWS 8:1-2 NOW THIS IS THE MAIN POINT OF THE THINGS WE ARE SAYING: WE HAVE SUCH A HIGH PRIEST, WHO IS SEATED AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE THRONE OF THE MAJESTY IN THE HEAVENS, A MINISTER OF THE SANCTUARY AND OF THE TRUE TABERNACLE WHICH THE LORD ERECTED, AND NOT MAN.

There is an Inheritance for the Sons and Daughters

Let us look at what the New Covenant teaches we are entitled to as sons and daughters.

HEBREWS 8:10-12 FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR MIND AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. NONE OF THEM SHALL TEACH HIS NEIGHBOR, AND NONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, ‘KNOW THE LORD,’ FOR ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST OF THEM TO THE GREATEST OF THEM. FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE.

Let us itemize the inheritance clauses:

1- I will put My laws in their mind

2- And write them on their hearts

3-I will be their God and they will be My people

4-None shall teach His neighbour, and none his brother, saying ‘Know the Lord’ for all shall know Me.

5-I will be merciful on their unrighteousness

6-and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.

Now let’s look at each of these clauses, starting with the most important to the fellowship of the mystery of His will – I will be their God, and they will be My people, becoming sons and daughters of the Father.

Becoming the People of God

We have seen that the cornerstone of the fellowship of the mystery of his will is that God’s original intention was to have sons and daughters.

We Become the People or family of God

Here is the legal clause in the New Covenant that invites you into the family of God. Entrance into the family of God happens through the spirit of adoption.

HEBREWS 10:16 “THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR HEARTS, AND IN THEIR MINDS I WILL WRITE THEM,”

Indwelling Holy Spirit

If our adoption was just legal, and we did not experience what it was to be a son of God, that would be a sad situation. We experience being sons and daughters through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at our new birth. Romans clarifies that adoption is not just a legal transaction. We experience a living relationship through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit:

ROMANS 8:15 FOR YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THE SPIRIT OF BONDAGE AGAIN TO FEAR, BUT YOU RECEIVED THE SPIRIT OF ADOPTION BY WHOM WE CRY OUT, “ABBA, FATHER.”

It says the Spirit of adoption, the actual adoption is the glorified body. But we have been sealed with the Holy Spirit as a down payment.

New Covenant puts the Law in Your Mind

The next part of the inheritance we have as sons and daughters of God, is that God puts His law in our minds, and this is referring to the spirit of the Law not the Letter of the Law.

We have heard so much negative teaching in the past about the mind. But here God says He will put the law in our minds, which is the renewal of the mind, but it starts by having the right theology. Most of the preachers I hear today preach the Old Covenant. There is a world of difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant, it is like night and day literally.

We are under a New Covenant, and it is called GRACE.

God is not talking about the Old Covenant law because He has put verses 10-12 after verse 7:

HEBREWS 8:7 FOR IF THAT FIRST COVENANT HAD BEEN FAULTLESS, THEN NO PLACE WOULD HAVE BEEN SOUGHT FOR A SECOND.

And before verse 13:

HEBREWS 8:13 IN THAT HE SAYS, “A NEW COVENANT,” HE HAS MADE THE FIRST OBSOLETE. NOW WHAT IS BECOMING OBSOLETE AND GROWING OLD IS READY TO VANISH AWAY.

Nor is He talking about the Word of God found in the New Testament. Yes, it is excellent to have scripture in your mind by memorizing scripture, but the written law is in black and white. Instead, He is referring to knowing the mind of Christ:

1 CORINTHIANS 2:16 FOR “WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD THAT HE MAY INSTRUCT HIM?” BUT WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.

The commandments of God are not only those written in the Bible, but those He speaks to you personally through his Spirit inside you, or through confirmed prophetic words from recognized and mature prophets and prophetesses.

Having the Mind of Christ

It is incredible that we now have the mind of Christ. But how do we get to know the mind of Christ? We need to go back a few verses to find out.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:6-7 BUT AS IT IS WRITTEN: “EYE HAS NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NOR HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.” BUT GOD HAS REVEALED THEM TO US THROUGH HIS SPIRIT. FOR THE SPIRIT SEARCHES ALL THINGS, YES, THE DEEP THINGS OF GOD. FOR WHAT MAN KNOWS THE THINGS OF A MAN EXCEPT THE SPIRIT OF THE MAN WHICH IS IN HIM? EVEN SO NO ONE KNOWS THE THINGS OF GOD EXCEPT THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

The Holy Spirit Reveals the Mind of Christ to us.

It happens because the Holy Spirit comes inside of you. Holy Spirit knows the plans that the Father has for your life and gives you the mind of Christ! You can therefore understand what God has in store for you.

When I first became a Christian, I would never dream of the fantastic journey God would take me on! Why is that? It is because we are not ready for the beautiful things God has in store for us. Our character cannot stand the fame or glory that having this authority and power would give us. We need to grow into maturity.

Going back a few verses, Corinthians supports Ephesians and the knowledge of the mystery of His will.

1 CORINTHIANS 2:6-7 HOWEVER, WE SPEAK WISDOM AMONG THOSE WHO ARE MATURE, YET NOT THE WISDOM OF THIS AGE, NOR OF THE RULERS OF THIS AGE, WHO ARE COMING TO NOTHING. BUT WE SPEAK THE WISDOM OF GOD IN A MYSTERY, THE HIDDEN WISDOM WHICH GOD ORDAINED BEFORE THE AGES FOR OUR GLORY,

Do you see the similarity to Ephesians? Corinthians talks of a mystery hidden from the beginning of time, just like Ephesians. Corinthians refers to the wisdom of God, and Ephesians refers to the manifold wisdom of God.

There are Demonstrations of Wisdom

Wisdom is of the mind; it requires us to process the words that the mind of Christ gives us and use wisdom, knowledge and discernment.

I have often seen people have a prophetic word from God and think they need to declare it. When I receive a word from God, I ask questions of God. I ask, “Who is this word for?” ” Is it to be given now?” “How do you want me to speak it?” Is it encouraging, edifying or comforting?” These are demonstrations of wisdom in the use of prophetic gifts. The same applies to all areas of hearing God’s voice.

The New Covenant Law in Your Heart

The next part of the New Covenant is that the law is written in and on our hearts.

HEBREWS 8:10 FOR THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS IN THEIR MIND AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE. HEBREWS 10:16 “THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR HEARTS, AND IN THEIR MINDS I WILL WRITE THEM,”

The New Covenant Brings a New Heart

Ezekiel prophesied that God would give us a new heart.

EZEKIEL 36:26-28 I WILL GIVE YOU A NEW HEART AND PUT A NEW SPIRIT WITHIN YOU; AND I WILL TAKE THE HEART OF STONE OUT OF YOUR FLESH AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF FLESH. I WILL PUT MY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU AND CAUSE YOU TO WALK IN MY STATUTES, AND YOU WILL KEEP MY JUDGMENTS AND DO THEM. THEN YOU SHALL DWELL IN THE LAND THAT I GAVE TO YOUR FATHERS; YOU SHALL BE MY PEOPLE, AND I WILL BE YOUR GOD

The new heart links to the New Covenant because of the last phrase, “You shall be My people, and I will be your God”. Becoming people of God is critical to the fellowship of the mystery of His will.

The spirit of our Heart is the Seat of Faith

Concerning the heart, the Easton bible Dictionary says this:

According to the Bible, the heart is the center not only of spiritual activity, but of all the operations of human life.

So when God puts the law in and upon our hearts, we receive His faith. When you receive a new heart from God, you receive His pure heart. This is why one of the blessings of the new Covenant Jesus teaches concerns the pure of heart. Obtaining a pure heart enables us to see God.

MATTHEW 5:8 BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART, FOR THEY SHALL SEE GOD.

The law of Christ is in and on our hearts, enabling us to see God now. When we see God, the problems of life become a lot smaller.

ROMANS 10:8-10 BUT WHAT DOES IT SAY? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART” (THAT IS, THE WORD OF FAITH WHICH WE PREACH): THAT IF YOU CONFESS WITH YOUR MOUTH THE LORD JESUS AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT GOD HAS RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, YOU WILL BE SAVED. FOR WITH THE HEART ONE BELIEVES UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND WITH THE MOUTH CONFESSION IS MADE UNTO SALVATION

In The New Covenant Everyone Shall Know the Lord.

The mystery of His will includes the truth that all may know God personally.

Under the Old Covenant, God’s people would hear from God through either the priest, prophet or the king. Now Jesus is all of these ministries. Because Jesus lives inside each of us, we have the priest, prophet and king inside each of us.

HEBREWS 8:11 NONE OF THEM SHALL TEACH HIS NEIGHBOUR, AND NONE HIS BROTHER, SAYING, ‘KNOW THE LORD,’ FOR ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST OF THEM TO THE GREATEST OF THEM.

We have seen that we have a new heart and the mind of Christ. Having a new heart and mind means we have everything we need to increase in God’s knowledge.

Jesus’ death on the cross resulted from God’s mercy, not God’s punishment of Jesus. His mercy is why we see it as part of the covenant:

HEBREWS 8:12 FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL TO THEIR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS, AND THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE.”

We learned in the Old Testament Revelation of God that covenant is always two way. We give God our sins, and He gives us His righteousness.

2 CORINTHIANS 5:21 FOR HE MADE HIM WHO KNEW NO SIN TO BE SIN FOR US, THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM.

Forgiveness of Sins is The final part of the New Covenant.

HEBREWS 10:17 THEN HE ADDS, “THEIR SINS AND THEIR LAWLESS DEEDS I WILL REMEMBER NO MORE.”

When God forgives our sins, we will learn that omniscience is Greek philosophy, whereas Hebrew thinking is that He has infinite knowledge. God’s sovereignty gives Him the freedom to forget our sins.

For most Christians, this is why Christ died. Yet, going through the list again, we see forgiveness of sins is at the end of the list, and only one of six:

1-I will put My laws in their mind

2-And write them on their hearts

3-I will be their God and they will be My people

4-None shall teach His neighbour, and none his brother, saying ‘Know the Lord’ for all shall know Me.

5-I will be merciful on their unrighteousness

6-and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.

What is the summery of the mystery of His will?

The Father’s will is to have glorious sons and daughters for Himself, a Bride for His Son and a Temple for His Spirit. These sons and daughters are expected, through wisdom, faith and boldness, to displace principalities and powers, and bringing His kingdom in heaven to earth- That’s who you are!

The Father’s will is to have Sons and Daughters for Himself, a Bride for His Son and a Temple for His Spirit.

Sons and daughters will be holy and blameless because of the New Covenant.

Man’s sinfulness is not the primary reason Jesus entered the world.

Because God desires sons and daughters, Jesus became the first begotten Son of God at His incarnation.

Abba is proud of His children and wants to show us off to principalities and powers.

God wants us to plunder the devil’s principalities and powers, bringing Jesus’ kingdom to earth.

We fulfil this purpose through wisdom, faith, and boldness.

We become the people of God due to the covenant allowing us to recieve the spirit of adoption when we receive Jesus as Lord.

Like Jesus we receive full authority to do the Father’s business through our water and Spirit and Fire baptisms.

The New Covenant gives us the mind of Christ.

The New Covenant gives us a new heart.

Each one of us can Know the Lord personally.

God will speak to us through the spirit of revelation and wisdom.

We need to listen to the leaders God gives us, but they are not the ones who should lead your walk with God.

We are the righteousness of God through Jesus death bringing in the New Covenant.

Being righteous means the Holy Spirit can come inside of us so we can experience the Father’s love.

If you were not righteous in God’s sight, the Holy Spirit would not be living in you.

Abba Father forgives and forgets our sins.
