The second foundation

The Second Foundation is Faith towards God

Believing is a process of confessing what we believe; it is a process of casting down all thoughts that are contrary to what you have faith for.

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Hebrews 6:1

God declares in His word that without faith we cannot please Him.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

This is a remarkable statement which declares that when we come to God we must come with faith in Him and His word in order to please Him.

In our approach to God he asks one thing: believe Me and love Me.

To walk with God requires faith and obedience and the two are interwoven and eternally linked.

Faith is something we have. The word occurs 223 times in the New Testament

Believe is something we do. The word occurs 104 times in the New Testament

The word faith in the Greek is pistis. It is a noun it is something we have.

The word believe in the Greek is pisteuo. It is a verb it is something we do.

To believe we have to defend ourselves against unbelief and act as if what we have faith for already exists.

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Psalms 27:13

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:23-24

Faith is an instant impartation, believing is a process.

Believing is a process of confessing what we believe; it is a process of casting down all thoughts that are contrary to what you have faith for.

This is a remarkable statement which declares that when we come to God we must come with faith in Him and His word in order to please Him. So then faith COMETH by hearing, and hearing by the word of God-Romans 10:17

You don’t have faith until it comes and it comes by God speaking to you; either directly or through His word.

Faith has power to make our spirits alive unto God. Faith brings power. When we operate in the realm of faith, we operate in God’s power. When we believe or act upon our faith, power is released.

Faith works by love. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Galatians 5:6

The word worketh in this verse is translated from the Greek word energeo from which we get our English word energy.

Faith is energized and empowered by LOVE.

Love is the highest form of energy in the universe. It is not something abstract, love is a power. God is love; it’s not that He has love, He IS love. God is light and the light is an extension of who He is, love.

What does this mean?

Motives are very important to God. God looks at why we want something and when our desires are motivated by love that love energises faith, it gives power to the faith, it energises faith.  God looks more at why we want something rather than what we want.

When we are motivated by love for God and His purposes that love releases the power of faith

We are called to walk by faith. For we walk by faith, not by sight- 2 Corinthians 5:7

We need to understand that this physical world is not the real world. The realm of spirit is far more real than the physical world.

We exist as it were in two parallel worlds, one is physical and the other is spiritual.

To interact with the Kingdom of God we interact with a spiritual world, a spiritual kingdom, a kingdom which cannot be seen or perceived with natural faculties.

It requires faith to interact with the Kingdom of God. He that comes to God must believe that He God is; we must believe that God exists in another dimension which is accessible to us. This is fundamental to you being able to access that realm.

Connecting with the spiritual kingdom of God requires faith. The Apostle Paul said we walk by faith and not by natural sight.

By far, most of Gods communication with man in the bible was through visions and dreams. It was communication beyond the natural senses.

The apostle John said “I was in the spirit on the Lord’s day” (Revelation 1:10). In other words he was in another realm that of spirit.

As Christians we have the ability to hear sound that originates in the spiritual realm.  When Gods word is quickened to us we have perceived that word through an anointing that allows us to comprehend information from Gods realm of spirit.

Strongholds of unbelief have to be dismantled.

Most Christians have been taught that visions’, dreams, visitation from God and walking with God in the spirit was for special people who God had sovereignly called for this.

That is a lie, if you believe that you can’t walk with God in a real tangible way, then you can’t. However if you believe you can, then you can; he that comes to God must believe.

The walk with God that Enoch, Elijah, Moses and Paul had, were examples for you, if they can you can. God is no respecter of person and he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8).

Strongholds of false teaching have to be broken in us or we will pass on that deception to others.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

To interact with Jesus an invisible spirit, requires faith.

Heb 6:1 and faith towards (a primary preposition meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc) God

Superimposition-to place something such as a transparent image on or over something else, often with the result that both things appear simultaneously, although one may partially obscure the other.

The word faith towards God in Hebrews 6:1 is an interesting word in the original Greek language. The word towards is translated from the Greek word “epi” which has this meaning; superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.)

This same word is used in conjunction with the word knowledge (epi-gnosis) in 2 Timothy 3:7. Here Paul is talking about those who just have natural knowledge and learning over against those who have knowledge by an encounter with the source of the knowledge in this case the Lord.

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge(epignosis)  of the truth. 2 Timothy 3:7

Ever learning but never experiencing or encountering the source of the knowledge. The word knowledge in this verse is the Greek word epi-gnosis meaning receiving knowledge by revelation or through an encounter with the source.

Having faith towards God has the meaning of having faith by superimposition of another dimension over the natural one.

This foundation of supernatural faith comes by encountering the source, and is the way into the kingdom of God.

Faith comes by hearing, hearing from the spirit realm, or hearing from the kingdom realm, the realm where God exists. Faith is supernatural; it is an impartation by encountering the source of the word, Jesus.

Just looking for a promise in the word is not enough; you must have the word quickened to you by hearing it from the invisible world of the Kingdom of God.

Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 2 Corinthians 3:6

Faith comes by hearing from God’s realm that of spirit.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

The word “word” in this verse is the Greek word rhema which has the meaning of a “quickened word” a word spoken from beyond this world, a word from the invisible Kingdom of God.

This foundation of having faith towards God and living by faith in the Living Word, a word from beyond the veil of this world, is a foundation that must be laid in our lives. It must become a way of life and a continuing experience.

Hebrews 11: 5. By Faith Enoch was translated. This act of translation was not a sovereign act of God; it required faith on Enoch’s part.

We need faith to take hold of all that God has promised us through His quickened word. It takes faith to walk in the spirit with the Lord. It takes faith to become friend’s with an invisible spirit, Jesus.

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthains 4:18

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

To walk with the Lord requires faith; we have to see things that are not seen with our natural eyes. The natural mind is an enemy of our walk of faith in the spirit.

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8:7-8

There are two important kingdom laws.

FAITH & LOVE  The whole of Gods kingdom operates on these two laws.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by THE LAW OF FAITH. Romans 3:27

If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: James 2:8

FAITH COMES…. it is something that comes and is imparted.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God- Romans 10:17

Faith comes from contact with Jesus, hearing Him

Faith and love are inseparable.

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Ephesians 3:17

Obedience has its roots in love; we obey the Lord because we love Him. So faith requires action. When we operate in the realm of faith, God releases power.  It is God who imparts faith but He waits for us to act on it, only then is power released to bring to pass the purpose of our faith. Faith springs out of union with the lord and is activated by love (obedience).

The more you learn to move in faith, more faith is given.

And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. Mark 4:24

Learning to lay a foundation of faith in our lives takes time, it requires an understanding that we cannot move on in God without faith, and faith must become a way of life to us. We advance by faith in what God has made real to us

Without faith we cannot please God. Faith comes by hearing from another dimension .The whole Journey is a walk of faith. The natural mind cannot comprehend the things of God. Love has to be the motive for what we want from God and for others.

Faith springs out of union with the lord and is activated by love (obedience)
