If we Love God with our heart, soul, mind and strength, then we must trust him in the same way.
At the very least, that means we must expel negativity in our minds and hearts. At the very best it means that we are capable of incredible acts of faith in the power of the Spirit.
Only God can love God properly. His love for us embraces all that we are (as well as all that we are not) and envelops us in all that he is towards us.
We trust in the context of how much we are loved. He who is forgiven much, loves much. Or to put it another way, when you are totally loved you can experience forgiveness to the greatest depth.
Either way, love and forgiveness are closely linked. So too are love and trust. Let God love you. That’s your daily delight. Partner with the Holy Spirit in the act of becoming the beloved.
Faith is best expressed in the context of love. Don’t try to trust, instead, allow yourself to be loved. As you experience love, your confidence will rise in terms of how you believe God sees you. Confidence only has to rise a fraction to reveal trust. Actually your inner man is waiting to trust God. The love of God causes the inner man to rise up above the soul.
In this love, we discover his nature. When we know what the father is really, really like… we relax in him. We trust, as a much-loved child. Our father is incredible, and we depend on him totally. That’s a good place to start each day.
You are wonderfully loved. Rest in that. Start relaxing in him and trust will be present. Trust is the evidence of love. You cannot be anxious, worried, or fearful if you are perfectly loved. Perfect love cast out fear-1 John 4: 18.
Love and trust combine to take us into new and exciting levels of experience. There are adventures that can begin when we allow these two aspects of God’s nature to come together in our hearts.
When they combine continuously, we can never be negative, nor cautious. Instead of being cautious, we are curious. What will the father do next? What is the Holy Spirit teaching me now?
We are not negative about life: we are excited about Jesus. We are in him, and he is in us. Therefore, life is full of wonderful possibilities. In the love of God, we trust him for every one of them.
The love of God comes to you in the same way that the weather does each day. It is uncalled for and ever present.
