Lived: 1907 to 1976
Separated from her husband, and having just lost her ministry, Kathryn Kulman was desperate for God in the mid-1940s. After praying for several days, she was touched by the Holy Spirit: 4:00 o’ clock that Saturday afternoon, having come to the place in my life where I surrendered everything, I knew nothing about the fullness of the Holy Spirit. I knew nothing about speaking in an unknown tongue. I knew nothing about the deeper truths of the word, she said. That afternoon, Kathryn Kulman died. If you’ve never had that death to the flesh, you don’t know what I’m talking about. When you’re completely filled with the Holy Spirit, when you’ve had that experience as they had in the upper room, there will be a death to the flesh. I surrendered unto him all there was of me, everything! Then for the first time, I realized what it meant to have real power.
Kathryn Kulman’s ministry exploded as the power of God followed her everywhere. When a woman was healed of a tumor while she preached, she turned her attention to healing. Hundreds, and then thousands, were healed as she shared the power of the Holy Spirit. She became very gifted in giving words of knowledge regarding illnesses: how does one know the woman over there in such and such a dress is being healed? I don’t know. If my life depended on it, I could not tell you. I do not know but the Holy Spirit knows.
In 1965, Kathryn Kulman moved to Los Angeles and held meetings in the shrine auditorium. She preached there for 10 years, filling the 7,000-seat room almost every night. She became famous. She preached 500 times on CBS television. Magazines like Redbook, people, time and Christianity Today did stories on her. She went on all the popular talk shows, including Johnny Carson, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, and Dinah Shore. She met movie stars, singers, TV actors, and even Pope Paul V1
She said- His power is under His authority-not ours
