Blow up the dams

There are things in our soul that hinder the flow of God in our lives. Things that we may be struggling with can dam up the flow of God’s life in us.

Out of our spirit shall flow rivers of life, but first we must blow up the dams.

What we need to do is to lay a few sticks of dynamite at the base of the dam and blow it up!

Acts 1: 8But ye shall receive (to actively take) power (dúnamis, we get the English word dynamite from it), after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. 9And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

When Jesus said this he was taken up out of their sight, into the cloud of witnesses.

We have to blow up the dams that keep us earthbound. Those things that keep us tied to this world.

And we can only do this through the power of the Holy Spirit.

God has a great reservoir of blessing ready to pour out upon this generation that loves Him. All we have to do is get rid of those dams, get rid of those limitations, the things that are holding us back.

We all have them. They are the things that hold us captive or they may be fears, doubts, limitations in our thinking, and something that comes up from someplace in the subconscious.

We look at it and say, “I thought I was free of that. We need to repent of it, deeply, with all of our heart. That is the way dams are broken up.

Mark 9: 43And if thy hand offend (To cause to stumble and fall) thee, cut it off (command to begin at once, two words in the Greek 1To cut off, amputate2-Self) it is better for thee to enter into life (Zoe-the life of God) maimed, than having two hands to go into hell (géenna), into the fire that never shall be quenched: 44Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 47And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 48Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 49For every one shall be salted (To sprinkle with salt, to preserve by salting, every sacrifice offered to God was to be sprinkled with salt. metaphorically everyone shall be seasoned or tried with fire) with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt (Natural salt which purifies, cleanses, and preserves from corruption, metaphorically used of wisdom and prudence) in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

We may be perfectly sound to live on the human plane, but find that in our effort to reach into the Kingdom of God, to reach into the heavenly realm, we have within us an offense, a limitation, a restriction, or a dam so great that all the wondrous blessings of God can never come through to our life.

Col 3: 2Set your affection (command for continuous action, mind set, to think, to be minded,” this activity involves not only the mind but the affections and the will) on things above (the place above that Jesus prepared), not on things on the earth (activities-things done on the earth). 3For ( truly as the situation stands) ye are dead (specific point past, lit., “to die off or out,”), and your life (zoe-the life of God, of the absolute fullness of life) is hid (past perfect tense-the finished results of the action or process- keep secret) with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5Mortify (command to start now, to put to death, slay, to deprive of power, destroy the strength of, to deaden, subdue) therefore  your members (parts of the body) which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness  , inordinate affection, evil concupiscence , and covetousness , which is idolatry : 6For which things’ sake the wrath  of God cometh  on the children of disobedience : 7In the which ye also walked (the whole of activities, occupied ourselves with) some time (formerly), when ye lived  in them. 8But (on the contrary) now ( now, at this very moment) ye also put off (definiteness of action, to put off, lay aside, cast off)all (the whole, totality) these; anger, wrath , blasphemy , filthy communication out of  your mouth. 9Lie (command continous action,  to give a false impression) not one to another, seeing that ye have put off (definiteness of action- lay aside, “to put off from oneself, cast off)the old  man with his deeds; 10And have put on (definiteness of action, get into- to clothe) the new (that which has recently come into existence, divine attributes-fruit of the spirit) man, which is renewed (continuous action, to be renewed completely by God,1-ana, “back” or “again,”2- kainos, “new,” not recent but different),  in (motion into) knowledge (experiential full knowledge, exact penetrating down to the root of, it is a faith at work) after the image (denotes “an image;” the word involves the two ideas of representation and manifestation. “The idea of perfection does not lie in the word itself, but must be sought from the context, exact representation) of him that created (definiteness of action, to produce from nothing, to form in a spiritual sense) him:

We are to mortify our members which are upon the earth, speaking of the works of the flesh, summed up in the word idolatry-idol worship, anything that takes Gods place in our heart.

In the parable about the marriage supper (Luke 14:16–24), the Lord spoke of the people who were bidden. They were naturally good people but they refused to come. One said, “I’ve bought a piece of land and have to go see it.” That sounds legitimate enough. Another said, “I’ve bought five yoke of oxen and must go prove them.” Another said, “I’ve married a wife, and I cannot come.”

The man who made the supper was angry, and sent his servants out, “Go and find the lame, the crippled, the poor, and the blind, and bid them to come in.”

We are the lame, the crippled, the poor and the blind.

If we want the blessing of the Lord that is flowing to this generation, then we must dynamite those dams! Whatever it is that is blocking the fullness of God in our lives.

The limitations upon us are largely of our own doing.  We have to cut off that hand if it offends us. Cut off that foot if it causes us to stumble. Pluck out that eye. This is referring to the gates or the doors of our body, the things that we look at, the things that we touch, and the places that we go. The body has five primary gateways:  1- Touch 2- Taste 3 -Smell 4- Sight 5- Hearing.

Romans 12: 1I beseech (occurring now, to call upon to do, to instruct, teach)you therefore , brethren (relational term-eternal life in their spirit), by(through- the ground or reason by which something is done) the mercies ( the moving of the spirit in love causing one to act, bowels(emotions of the Spirit) in which compassion resides) of God, that ye present (specific point in time, to yield,  to place near-to stand before His presence) your bodies a living sacrifice (primarily denotes “the act of offering;” then, objectively, “that which is offered”), holy (separated, devoted to God), acceptable (well pleasing, passes the test) unto God, which is your reasonable  service ( divine service or mode of worship). 2And be not conformed (command continuous, to conform one’s self to another’s pattern) to this world (time period, the course of this present age): but be ye transformed (command continuous, to change into another form,) by the renewing (root- to cause to grow up,  new strength and vigor, to be changed into a new kind of life ,the adjustment of the moral and spiritual vision and thinking to the mind of God) of your mind, that ye may prove (to test, examine, prove, scrutinize (to see whether a thing is genuine or not) what is that good, and acceptable (well pleasing, passing the test), and perfect ( brought to its end, finished), will (the results He determines) of God.

This is what God is requiring of this generation, we must wholly give ourselves unto the Lord.

God told Abraham (Genesis 17:1–14) to follow Him, and He would show him a place he was going to inherit. Then God gave him the rite of circumcision: “I want you to take a knife and circumcise all the males.” What was the reason for it? It represented a cutting off.

Today God wants to work a circumcision of heart. Then the Spirit of the Lord can break forth upon us like a flood. Then the anointing of the Lord can come upon us like the rain, and God’s will, His purpose, and our function in the kingdom, can come to us.

We have to dynamite down everything that stands in the way. To make sure that nothing prevents us from doing the perfect will of God. We start with the dams within our own being. With the limitations we have made, the restrictions we have made, the things within our own thinking and goals and desires that are contrary to God. We Lay them on the altar, to see them burned with fire, “Not my will, but Thine be done.

We are transformed from the inside out. The Lord quickens our spirit and then as we open our spirit to the Lord, the life and power of God flows in. then through the power of the Holy Spirit we mortify our members (the parts of the body) which are upon the earth. This is the blowing up of the dams, that which hinders the outpouring of the Spirit upon our life.

We have to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, and then and only then, can our soul be transformed. And this requires the power of the Spirit in our lives. It is a deliberate act of our will. Our will is cold blooded; it is not something we naturally feel like doing.

But when we see these things as dams, which are restricting us from heavenly encounters, for the joy set before us we can endure the cross.

When our life upon this earth is a reflection of heaven, then the God of all glory can tabernacle with us. Then God can live in not only our spirit, but also our soul and body. then the veil between heaven and earth can be removed experientially in our life.

Then we can be taken up in the Spirit literally.

Blow up your dams.
