When the bible talks about the heart it is always talking about our soul, unless it is talking about the hidden man of the heart or the inward man- then it is talking about our spirit.
Our spirit is the part of us that gives us God consciousness, where we have a sweet communion with God.
When David committed adultery with Bathsheba and then murdered her husband to cover it up, His spirit was broke off from God-a broken spirit, that condition of intimacy with God was severed.
He asked God to renew a right spirit within him, which is the joining of our spirit with the Lord’s and a clean (pure) heart. A clean heart is a pure heart that is able to see God.
When our spirit is renewed it is brought back into fellowship with God, the connection is restored, so that in that connection we realize God’s love for us, and we experience godly sorrow which leads to repentance and the cleaning and purifying of the heart.
Psalm 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: And in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; That the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.9 Hide thy face from my sins, And blot out all mine iniquities.10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; And renew a right spirit within me.11 Cast me not away from thy presence; And take not thy holy spirit from me.12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; And uphold me with thy free spirit.13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; And sinners shall be converted unto thee.14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: And my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.15 O Lord, open thou my lips; And my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: Thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken (to break off) spirit: A broken and a contrite (to collapse) heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
The sacrifices of God are offering our broken spirit, and our collapsed heart, and our body to him as a living sacrifice, so that he can restore us to wholeness.
Now because we live in a fallen world, hope deferred makes the heart sick.
Our heart becomes broken when we experience betrayal, when the person we love is unfaithful to us, or rejects us.
Our heart becomes broken when our body becomes sick and it does not function properly and we are in physical pain.
Our heart becomes broken when the circumstances of life cause us to not be able to buy the things we need, and we have to live in poverty, just barely getting our needs met only by the grace of God, because he takes care of His children.
Psalm 38:8 I am feeble (to be paralyzed) and sore (much) broken (to collapse):I have roared( crying out in distress) by reason of the disquietness ( despairing of hope) of my heart
Why is it that some of us, when we come into a walk with God go through the dealings of God like Joseph did? He was rejected by his brothers, sold into slavery, then thrown into jail for a crime he did not commit?
It says until the word of God came to pass it tried Joseph. He was faithful to God through his sufferings until the word; the vision God gave him came to pass.
The Lord exalted Joseph where he became a ruler- a type of our ruling and reigning with Christ. And he became a savior of the world in the time in which he lived.
Joel2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids In those days will I pour out my spirit.30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, Blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and lthe moon into blood, Before the great and nthe terrible day of the Lord come.32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: For in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, As the Lord hath said, And in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.
The lord is raising up a remnant in the last days before He returns, in whom their shall be deliverance. The Lord is raising up saviors.
So if you are being severely tried and you don’t know why, Yet you have a walk with God but you’re not experiencing the abundant life.
Until the word of God comes to pass it tries us. If faithful is He who spoke that word to you, faithful is he that shall bring it to pass, he is just working His faithfulness in us, so that when that word comes to pass, we will be faithful like Joseph to us the Authority He grants us for His glory and not our own personal gain.
Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father confidently expecting all his enemies to be brought under our feet.
Father, I ask that, that confident hope that Jesus has would be imparted to us today. That what we are going through is not in vain.
James 1: 2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations (from <G3985> (peirazo); a putting to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication adversity:- temptation, × try); 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing
May the Lord bless this word to your broken heart today, for He feels your pain. He is working His faithfulness in you, and it has not yet entered your heart, all that He has planned and prepared for you to inherit and walk in, but the Lord is doing a quick work in this time, and it shall surely come to pass quicker than you think.
