Being aware of our spirit

The will of God is first of all a state of spirit. A lot of Christians are not really aware of their spirit. Our spirit is the part of us that connects to God, where His life flows into it.

To understand our spirit it is important to look at every reference in the bible that refers to the human spirit.

The seed of God in our spirit is perfect, but our spirit is not perfect. Those who have died in the faith are those whose spirits are made perfect, because their spirits are fully exposed to God and have absorbed His Spirit by being in His presence with nothing clouding the connection.

All change comes by exposure to God’s Spirit. When our spirit is filled with God’s Spirit we are experiencing His perfection, but it is something we grow and expand in.

When our spirit is filled with the Spirit of God then the fruit of His Spirit is manifested in it.

Our spirit has feelings; our spirit can be in emotional pain. Our spirit can be deeply troubled, sorrowful. It can feel agitation.

Our spirit can be in anguish, in despair, discouraged, our spirit can become depressed because of oppression. Our spirit can be oppressed-where stress is inflicted upon it. Our spirit can be distressed causing bitterness in our soul.

Our spirit can be in fear and worry. Our spirit can be stubborn, hard, have a resentful attitude. Our spirit can be sullen, sad, without hope, our spirit can be vexed, in vexation- agitation; disquieted; trouble; irritation.

Our spirit can drink in that which poisons it-.Our spirit can have deceit in it, fault, that which is not truth, not steadfast or correct.

Our spirit can be overwhelmed and grow faint, weak. Negative feelings weaken our spirit, it loses its rightful place and needs to be renewed and strengthened.

Our spirit can fail us and become exhausted. Our spirit can be hasty, fall short, become quick tempered, impatient and speak foolishly. Our spirit can be proud or arrogant, full of conceit. Our spirit can go astray or err, a critical spirit cannot learn. The condition of our spirit determines our understanding of spiritual things.

Our spirit can be dark, dull or weak, despairing. Our spirit can be broken by a grieved heart, sorrow of the heart. The life, vitality and drive of the spirit is lost. Our spirit can be despondent-extremely unhappy and discouraged.

Our spirit becomes empty, when we labor under the sun. This speaks of the toil of everyday life, without our spirit connecting to God.

If our body becomes sick our spirit will sustain us, but if our spirit is wounded or broken through a grieved heart, we cannot endure. Our spirit is related to our body, when our body has water and nourishment if affects the condition of our spirit, it is revived.

Our spirit can be fractured, a breach, broken down. There can be an opening in our spirit in which the enemy can come in. Perverseness is a breach in the spirit.

When our spirit is not right it has to be renewed, to be rebuild, revitalized, so that it is fixed and steadfast, so it is established.

Our spirit needs to be free, willing, honorable, an attitude which agrees readily and cheerfully with the will of God.

A walk with God starts with a broken and contrite spirit, a humble spirit, being poor in spirit. God dwells in close proximity with the humble and contrite spirit, to give it life.

In the new birth of our spirit, our will has direct control over our spirit. We can tune into the Spirit of God at will and have his love, joy, and peace flow into it.

As we become aware of our spirit, the moment it loses its right condition we can tune into the attributes of God because our spirit has access to His. We can maintain the connection, but sometimes our soul will still be troubled, even though at the same time our spirit has the life of God flowing into It. We have to distract ourselves if possible from what our soul is feeling, until it comes under submission to our spirit.

The life of God flows out of heaven into our spirit, when our spirit is actively connecting to His Spirit. And then the life of God flows into our soul, as we deal through the Spirit with the blockages that might be in it. Then the life of God flows into our bodies and into the atmosphere.

If we do not keep our spirit activated and communing with God then things from the outside can come into our spirit. We need to realize that things that are not of God can get into our spirit.

Sanctification starts with our spirit, then our soul and body. Without the life and power of God flowing into our spirit we are not going to be able to bring our soul and our body into sanctification. Being sanctified means every part of our being is set apart exclusively for Gods use.

As we study the fruits of the Holy Spirit, then we can tell if our spirit is right with God, where His eternal life is filling it and manifesting in it. Everything contrary to the fruit of the Spirit is that which contaminates our spirit.
