That there were more than 12 disciples that followed Jesus in that inner circle of his true followers.
Acts 1: 15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said,
17 for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”( talking about Judas)
20 “For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it’; and, ‘Let another take his office.’ 21 “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.” 23 And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. 24 And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen 25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” 26 And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Even though the 11 were baptized in the Holy Spirit they were not let by the Spirit.
Man chose Matthias to be an Apostle, but he was never written about again in the whole New Testament.
Barsabas, who was a leader in the church, was send with Paul concerning the issue of Circumcision to Antioch.
22 Then it pleased the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own Acts 15 :company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, namely, Judas who was also named Barsabas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren.
The 11 apostles drew lots which was an Old Covenant custom. And I think the Holy Spirit made sure it fell to the wrong person, because He has this awesome sense of humor, he doesn’t laugh at us but with us. I heard this laughing once in the spirit, and I realized it was the Holy Spirit. I won’t go into detail but I had an urgent matter to take care of, and was not seeking the Lord about it, until I heard the Holy Spirit laughing, and then he got my attention and told me what to do.
YHVH chose Barnabas to be among the leaders of the Church not Matthias and he revealed to Paul personally the revelation of the finished work of Christ on the cross. Paul got this revelation in the wilderness; he did not consult with the other Apostles at this time.
Romans 2: 16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
