We get the idea that we have to rig it for God to make it easy for Him to work miracles. That’s human nature. For example, we’ll be very careful that there’s a bucket of water we can kick over on the fleece we laid out the night before. You don’t have to rig it for God. You can do like Elijah. “O. K. God. It’s time to show them that You’re God. You fellows bring up twelve barrels of salt water out of the ocean, pour it on the oxen until the trenches are filled with water because when God sends that fire it’s going to burn up the water.” You’ve never heard of fire doing that before, but it did. It burned up the stones and the oxen too. Everybody said, “The Lord, His is God.”
You don’t have to rig it for God. When He answers, He’ll make it plain. He doesn’t need any help in being God. All He needs is somebody to believe Him. He says, “You believe Me, you speak My word, you walk into it. I’ll be God—you just take care of being the people.” Sometimes we get that all twisted around and we think we have to help Him out being God. We don’t. We have to believe Him. What He has promised He is able also to perform. (Romans 4:21).
