Faith’s partnership with the will

Because they both depend on God’s truth, faith and will, put together, are enough to create a move of God in our spirit. An act of the will can set recovery in motion. The key is to continually remind ourselves what is true about the nature of God.

I am constantly awed by the kindness of God in my life. His kindness is just too real for me to ignore. This is my truth about God: he has been relentlessly kind to me for many years. I am now completely dependent upon that kindness, and I work to represent that gift to everyone I meet. God wants us to be a testimony of his nature. When people look at us, they should see something of God. When people look at me, I want them to see God’s kindness.

What is true for you about the power of the Holy Spirit? Who is God to you that you can show the world? What specific victory did Christ buy for you personally? We know that in general terms the Lord bought victory for all of our life. However, there are specific areas of bondage, oppression and difficulty in which the Lord Jesus has especially set us free in, so that we may deliver others in his name.

Our individual understanding of God’s nature is a central point of our confession. That confession, combined with our will, keeps us standing when we feel like falling. Supplication becomes declaration when we engage our will. We move from Lord, don’t let me fall, to Lord, we will not fall. Prayers begging God to do something transform into proclamations that he will do it.

Caleb knew the Lord was with Him, this is the attitude that made Caleb a man of a different spirit in the eyes of God. He took his perspectives from heaven; he was a man of intimacy as well as a man of action.

He alone opposed the report of the unbelieving spies and stood against the criticism of Moses’s leadership.

Numbers 13:30 – then Caleb quieted the people before Moses and said, we should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it.

The next day Joshua joined Caleb and in the face of incredible opposition and unbelief spoke out of the combination of the will and faith.

Numbers 14:4 – so they said the one another, lettuce appoint a leader and returned to Egypt. Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces in the presence of all the assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel. Joshua the son of nun and Caleb the son of jephunneh, of those who had spied out the land, tore their close; and they spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, the land which we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly Good land. If the Lord is pleased with us, then he will bring us into this land and give it to us – Elaine which flows with milk and honey. Only do not rebel against the Lord; do not fear the people of the land, for they will be our pray. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us; do not fear them. But all the congregation said to stone him with stones. Then the glory of the Lord appeared in the tent of meeting to all the sons of Israel.

Glory attaches itself to faith and the will. When we are faced with overwhelming odds, and circumstances look impossible; faith and the will combined will see us through to a place where God may shine upon us. Faith and the will focus on who God is for us now! Warriors know that as we please God, so our stock rises; and his abundance flows. Without faith it is impossible to please God – Hebrews 11:6; but just as importantly, warriors also know that whoever believes in him will never be disappointed – Romans 10.

What is true about God is the central point of our confession. Your faith confession combined with your will make you stand when you feel like falling. It is impossible for God to let us down. Faith is the designed method for us to receive all that he wants to give. It therefore follows that the acquisition and development of faith is of paramount importance to the father. if That is true, then Christians acquiring doubt, leading to unbelief, is a major part of the tactics of the enemy in our lives.

We doubt because we do not trust. Our doubts tell the world that our relationship with the Lord needs an upgrade. Trust is a relational issue.

Proverbs 3:5 – trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Trust is a matter of the heart. If we do not trust, we will depend on our own logic and ways of understanding that are mostly a product of our world environment. As we express heartfelt trust it leads us quite naturally to accepting God’s perspective on our circumstances, and that generates a positive confession.

It is when we admit God’s purpose that we begin to recognize the signs of his presence. We easily fall into place of instruction from the Holy Spirit that enables us to partner with the Lord for our freedom and benefit.

Trust moves us swiftly into faith, whereas the destination of doubt is unbelief. The effect of unbelief upon our relationship with God is vile and destructive. We must do all we can in partnership with the Holy Spirit to cultivate faith.

Assignment – what is true for you about the nature of God? What aspect of the power of the Holy Spirit do you need to experience in your current season? What victory of Christ do you need to acquire in your present situation?
