Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. Psalm 125:1.
Do you want to be like a mountain that cannot be moved—a mountain not in size, but in spirit? When the Scripture says that God’s people are as Mount Zion, it does not mean that they are to be an actual mountain; it means that God is making them like a rock—immovable. He is making them steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord (I Corinthians 15:58).
Within your being there should be a feeling that you cannot be moved, that you have a position before the Lord which is definitely and unconditionally yours. You must rest in God.
When you rise in the morning, there should not be a startled terror that fills your heart, causing you to wonder what the day will do with you. Instead, there ought to be within you the spirit of Caleb which says, “What am I going to do with this wonderful day?”
Approach the day from the position of a mature believer. The fearful believer goes from crisis to crisis, but the mature believer goes from glory to glory because he sees the Lord and meets the Lord in every one of his difficulties.
You can be like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. You can have that immovable stability within your heart, even though your circumstances may seem to be changeable and uncertain.
Situations may recur which cause you to feel as if you have covered the same territory before. You may purpose to do a certain thing, but later your heart wavers in it. The Lord can strengthen your purpose. Remember David’s words: “He teaches my hands to war” (Psalm 144:1). You will become very weary unless God enables you to endure in the midst of trials.
Learn to distract yourself from the pressures that continually come from Satan to break you. Those pressures in the psychic realm are more intense than most people realize. Satan often tries to break a person, not by reality, but by illusion; therefore, you need an immovable quality in your spirit. Trust God.
At times you may not understand the purpose for which God brings you through tests and trials. Through them He builds a stability within you that is like a mountain, and because of it you will not fail.
Although you may have slipped and wavered often in the past, as the days go by, a stability will come within you. This does not happen because you become strong in a natural sense. It happens because you meet the Lord in so many difficulties that finally, like David, you say, “I have set the Lord always before me; I shall not be moved” (Psalm 16:8). You become immovable when your focus is upon the Lord, and then you go on from glory to glory.
The man whose focus is set upon God, who trusts in Him completely, will find the truth of this Scripture: As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. For the scepter (this is a reference to power) of wickedness shall not rest upon the land of the righteous; that the righteous may not put forth their hands to do wrong. Psalm 125:2,3.
In this end time, God’s people must move forward aggressively, ready to launch into things of God that they have never walked in before. They must be ready to appropriate as they have never appropriated before. If they are steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, they will become a remnant to bless the whole world. They will accomplish great things as they learn to appropriate the Lord for their place of protection. He will surround them.
Let God make real to you this verse which tells about restored Zion: “For, I,” declares the Lord, “will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.” Zechariah 2:5.
Picture the Lord as a ring of fire around you. Visualize Him in all situations. If you are concerned about your many responsibilities, remember that they are His responsibilities. It is His business completely, and you simply work with Him. Commit all that concerns you into His hands and appropriate His provision. He is the One who surrounds His people. He promises to be a wall of fire around them and the glory in their midst.
In the sixtieth chapter of Isaiah, the following verses give an expanded picture of God’s people who are as Mount Zion. “And your gates will be open continually; they will not be closed day or night, so that men may bring to you the wealth of the nations, with their kings led in procession.” Verse 11.
The Lord will bring financial blessing to His remnant. However, first He must prove that their motivation is not money, but the Kingdom. Then He will reach out to bless them and give to them all the money they need.
“And the sons of those who afflicted you will come bowing to you, and all those who despised you will bow themselves at the soles of your feet; and they will call you the city of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.” Verse 14.
This verse reveals that Zion is not really a city, but it is the people of God. They will be called the Zion of the Lord for they will be His special dwelling place, the special place that He chooses to make a sanctuary in which to bring forth His glory.
The New Testament churches being raised up by God in this day will not be churches of people struggling to obtain victory and deliverance over their problems. They will be filled with people who walk in righteousness before the Lord. They will be filled with diligent laborers whose mighty efforts come forth to fulfillment. God’s people will be a place of immunity, and they will bless and lift up one another in the Spirit.
“Violence will not be heard again in your land, nor devastation or destruction within your borders; but you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise.” Verse 18.
Your praise to the Lord opens the door to the abundance of good things that God wants to bring into your life. This verse speaks of the protection that God becomes to you. If that is difficult to believe, try painting little pictures in your mind. Picture in your mind what God wants to become to you. Imagine walls of fire, with the glory of God in the midst of them. Imagine high mountains around a city. Imagine that you are walking down the street with a wall of fire around you. Imagine that you are actually a mountain that no one can move. He wants you to see it; so turn loose your imagination. In this way the Lord can teach you to lift up your spirit and to rejoice in Him.
Believe that the Lord will give you deep perception and discernment in your areas of need. Answers to problems now can come very simply because a practical wisdom is coming from the Lord. Believe to be free from your human nature that is so easily moved from a position of trust. Do not be content to trust the Lord one day and be fearful the next. Declare war on fear and unbelief. Believe that God will deal with anything that causes withdrawal and wavering on a word from the Lord. God may test you on this, but you will come to the place where you stand firm, without wavering, when He gives you a word. Believe to be a part of the remnant of God which is like the mountain of the Lord that is immovable and abides forever.
