You are not your flesh; YOU ARE NOT YOUR FLESH! If you can understand this truth, it will totally set you free!
Hebrews 10:1:12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being made holy.
Christians are not just forgiven, they are perfect. YOU ARE PERFECT! By one sacrifice Jesus has already perfected you.
This is referring to who we are in heaven right now, our spirit is seated together with Christ in heavenly places. The salvation of our spirit is instantaneous.
When we are born from above, our spirit is joined to the Lord which means it is perfect.
1 Corinthians 6: 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
The word joined is a present passive/middle participle. The present participle expresses continuous action. The passive voice means that the subject (us) is actively receiving something. The middle voice means that the subject(us) is acting in some way.
We have received Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and we are learning how to walk with the Lord. If we fall down, we get back up and eventually we learn how to walk. We can see this in our children as they learn how to walk.
This means that our spirit is active, it is aware of the Lord and desires to please the Lord. If we miss it, we are sorry, we are repentant.
Perfected is a present indicative, which means it is occurring while the speaker is making the statement.
The Greek word for forever is diēnekēs: – it means perpetually, continuous, all the time, uninterrupted, forever, eternity.
It is used four times in the New Testament, all in Hebrews, referring to the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. There is another word for forever in the Greek which is aiōn which means age- enduring. We need to realize that there are many ages, and this word deals with a certain age.
For example-Matthew 12: 31 “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age (aiōn) or in the age to come.
When Jesus said this age, he was talking about the age He was living in which ended with the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple. The age to come is talking about the age we are living in now. The word forgiveness means sending the force of sin away from you, so it means deliverance. The reason there is no forgiveness is because The Holy Spirit ministers the provision of Jesus to us and they were saying- Matthew 12:24“This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.” The Pharisees could not receive forgiveness because the Holy Spirit who ministers forgiveness was being rejected, being called the devil.
The church at large believes that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unpardonable sin, and if you commit it, you are going to hell. The context is not even talking about heaven or hell but is talking about healing the sick and casting out demons.
Has perfected forever, those who are being sanctified. Being sanctified means being set apart exclusively for his use. Another words someone who is being made holy.
Are being sanctified is a present passive/middle participle. The present participle expresses continuous action. The passive voice means that the subject (us) is actively receiving something. The middle voice means that the subject(us) is acting in some way.
The Holy Spirit is moving us and we are responding. This is referring to our soul life. The salvation of the soul is a process.
If we are struggling with some area of our soul life, we are going to eventually overcome it, because whoever is born again overcomes the world.
As we get our minds renewed to this truth, we are going to see ourselves through God’s eyes. He see’s us In Christ, therefore perfect.
