lived: 1412 to 1431.
With her country under siege, God visited Joan, a young farm girl in rural France, with a series of prophetic messages. Shortly after her 13th birthday, Joan spent a day fasting and praying. During that fast, God spoke to her: when I was about 13, I received revelation from our Lord by a voice which told me to be good and attend church often and that God would help me. From that time on, she heard various voices speaking to her, including Michael the Archangel, Saint Catherine, and Saint Margaret of Antioch. Two or three times a week, Joan would receive a message from one of those “cloud of witnesses”.
The voices told her she had to go to end the siege of a town called Orleans, take a young ruler named Charles to a city called Rheims and crown him king of France. It was a call that would change Joan’s life.
Five years later, God’s voice told her to go to the neighboring town of Vacouleurs and speak to the captain of the fortress there, a man named Robert De Baudricourt. She immediately recognized Robert, even before he was introduced to her. Joan kept telling Robert that she had to meet Charles the Dauphin; he refused her twice. Finally, she prophesied to Robert that the French would win a battle at Herrings they did, and Robert, impressed, gave Joan 6 attendants and ordered them to take her to Chinon, where Charles was.
Just as her revelation showed, Joan led the French army to the victory and crowned Charles king. Burned at the state at age 19 for being a heretic, she died staring at a makeshift cross made by an enemy soldier.
I fear nothing for God is with me!
