This is the last commandment of Jesus in the book of Luke to His disciples.
Luke 24: 44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”
45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.
46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And you are witnesses of these things. 49 “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry(kathizō) in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued(endyō) with power(dynamis) from on high.”
If we get the key to these three Greek words, for wait, clothed with or endued with, and power, we got the key to taking a city. In this message I will just deal with the first one.
The early church learned to do this in Ephesus and other great cities and soon the whole of Europe and north Africa was feeling the power of the Kingdom of God and the kingdom in darkness(the enemy) was not able to resist the force and power of the Kingdom of God.
When you read the English word wait or tarry you get the idea of just sitting passively around waiting for something to happen, like the church is waiting for a rapture. I have already been raptured, yet still in my body but you are just snatched up, it is very scary the first time it happens to you.
Just put that on the shelf, most of the people who read my posts will not understand what I am talking about, just read about Paul’s experience-caught up-2 Corinthians 12:4. The word caught up in the Greek is harpazō and it means- to seize, catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force).
The veil between heaven and earth has been torn when Jesus died, and you can just step through it, you don’t have to be raptured, that only happened to me because I was traveling through some galaxies to get to another planet.
In a dream the Lord showed me it, it was like an energy field. Just imagine it as the sheet on your bed but invisible, you just step through it, and you are in a different dimension, and it is like WOW! That is all I could say, I only did it twice, but I got some people to help me today, who do it every day. Heaven is as close as the air you breathe.
The Greek word, for wait or tarry is kathizō. It is used 67 times in the New Testament. And nowhere else in the whole New Testament does is it ever translated with the idea of waiting or tarrying or just sitting around.
It means to sit down comfortably upon a throne, in an attitude of rest, a sense of belonging. This is where I belong.
You don’t sit nervously down saying, “I shouldn’t be here. You know you’re supposed to be here. The idea is of sitting down comfortably in a relaxed way upon a throne for the purposes of exercising rule, government and authority.
In other words, Jesus is saying, Listen, you guys, you can’t go anywhere and do anything until you know how to sit on the throne and rule with government and with authority.
That’s a totally different message. Can you hear me? So don’t go anywhere till you know how to rule. When you go to the book of Hebrew’s, Chapter 1 shows us the glory of who Jesus is.
It points out all the superlatives of who Jesus is. Hebrews chapter two tells us who we are because of Him. Everything that He did, He leads us into also.
So, in every way, we are like Christ by the grace of God. It tells us in 1 John 2:6 that if we say that we abide in Him, we ought also to walk even as He walked. You’re supposed to literally walk like Jesus.
It says in Colossians 2:6, As you have received the Lord Jesus Christ… How did you receive Christ? By faith! As you have received the Lord Jesus Christ, so walk ye in Him.
Jesus said, now listen guys, I’m God and I do miracles, but remember you’re not God, you’re just a bunch of sinners saved by grace and you can’t do a thing. So just don’t try and get any big ideas about yourself. Is that what he said? No!
What did he say? He said, I’m going to the Father, so that where I am you may be also, and that refers to in the Greek where He was at that precise moment that He was speaking. Talking about the abiding place He had with the Father while still on the earth, but in heaven at the same time-John 3:13.
And, I’m going to receive the promise of the Father, and when I receive the promise of the Father and give it to you, the works that I do, you’re going to do them also, and even greater works than these you’re going to do. Amen?
Now, do you believe that? You see, you walk like Him by faith. It’s a faith issue.
You can walk like a grasshopper, the devil can tread on, and say, well, I’m not even going to try to be like Jesus or you can make a decision in God.
I’m going to walk like Jesus. Now that’s not presumption, it’s just believing what the Scripture says.
Ephesians 2: 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
You have a throne right now in the heavenly places in Christ. Most of them are vacant, you have an angle watching over it for you.
Before you minister to someone sit down on your throne and then the words you speak will be spirit and life (John 6:63) and will impart a measure of Yeshua’s Spirit to those who have an ear to hear. It makes all the difference in the world.
