Spirit building-Tongues

What is our spirit?  Where does our spirit come from?  What is our spirit made of?  Where is our spirit?  What does our spirit do?  How do we engage our spirit?

1 John 5:5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

God is spirit, God is light. We are spirit and our spirit is light.

We pre-existed in eternity as thoughts within the heart or mind of God.

Psa 139:13 For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

16 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance and all my days were written in your book and were planned before a single one of them began.

Our spirit is our eternal essence it came from eternity and will return to it. Pneuma, Ruach spirit (Spirit), wind, or breath. Our spirit entered our cells at conception. Our spirit is the center of our being – our inner most being. Our spirit is the purest representation of our true self. Our spirit is not limited by time and space.

Where is our spirit?  Our spirit dwells in the brain and spinal column cavity and is separated from our blood. Our spirit engages our soul/heart & body via the nervous system.

Our spirit is a dimensional place that God dwells in and that can dwell in God. John 14:16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper,… 17 that is the Spirit of truth, .. He abides with you and will be in you.

John 14:20 In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 23 … We will come to him and make our abode with him.

We are a spirit we are a soul and we are a body. We are spirit, which is the eternal essence of God within us that receives spiritual revelation.  We are a spirit being that is God conscious. We are a soul that is self conscious and makes us a human being. Our spirit and soul makes us a living being.

In Adam the spirit was outside the body and as a light being he could travel in the spiritual realms.

Psa 8:4 What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? 5 Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty! 6 You make him to rule over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet.

Our spirit has eyes, ears, emotions and has 9 senses or abilities or gateways. First love, Fear of God, Reverence, Prayer , Faith , Hope , Revelation , Intuition , Worship.

If we don’t use any part of us it atrophies wastes away. Spiritual exercise is needed for our spirit to grow strong. We need to learn to build up and grow our spirit.

Heb 5:14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.

Training exercises are needed to build a house for God to dwell in, to develop a spiritual lifestyle.

How do we develop our spirit? Through fellowship and spending time with God in our spirit – our spirit absorbs God’s Spirit. We wait on the Lord-be still and know He is God; it is a focused listening to hear Him and obey Him. We Speak, pray & sing in tongues and in our natural language. Praying in tongues edifies us, builds a house. We meditate on the Word of God speaking it to ourselves. We meditate on God’s Word visually in our imagination – Beholding to become like Him. We worship Him with all our heart.

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up (continuous action, to build upon, build up, erect- a superstructure) yourselves on your most holy faith, praying (continuous, to to pray) in (intimate union with-one mind and purpose) the Holy Ghost,

21Keep (command to begin now, to attend to carefully, take care of, to guard, to maintain) yourselves in (intimate union with, remaining in, rest) the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto (motion into) eternal life.

Wait on the Lord – Be still sense Him spiritually – know Him, Developing our right side of our brain.

Our spirit has a language. The Language is called speaking or praying in tongues. It is the language of the Holy Spirit, He communicates through us. Tongues are a gateway gift.

Speaking with other tongues is designed to equip us from the inside out. It affects the part of us from which all permanent change comes — the human spirit

Tongues are an activation gift.

Speaking with other tongues is designed to equip us from the inside outIt edifies the part of us from which all permanent change comes — the human spirit.

1 Cor 12:7,10 to each one is given … to another various kinds of tongues. There are 4 basic varieties of tongues.

1 Cor 14:4 One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself .Tongues for personal edification .This is available for us to use as we will.

1 Cor 14:5 and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying.  Tongues for interpretation. This manifestation of tongues is normally presented in a public gathering, accompanied by interpretation by the same or another person.  This is as the Spirit wills.

Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words;  Tongues of deep intercessional groaning.

This variety of tongues empowers believers to stand in the gap for their own lives, their families, their church, their city, their nation, etc.  God sometimes moves us to intercede for someone or for some situation that is totally unknown to us .This is as the Spirit wills.

1 Cor 14:22 So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers;  Tongues as a sign to the unbeliever  .This is what took place on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2: 4-11).  It occurs when the Holy Spirit transcends the mind and all language barriers by empowering a believer to preach, teach, or testify about Christ in some language of men of which the believer himself has no knowledge.

Of these four different manifestations of tongues, two are designed to be used in the individual prayer life of a believerTongues for personal edification and Tongues that extend into the deep intercessional groaning of the Holy Spirit.

Tongues for interpretation and tongues as a sign to the unbeliever are normally for use in public gatherings .As we begin to understand and yield to these four different manifestations of the diversities of tongues, it will cause our spirit to grow.

The most common, yet perhaps the most unique, manifestation of the varieties of tongues is tongues for personal edification.  This is the prayer language each of us receives when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. It is used by God to transfer divine secrets and mysteries from His Spirit to ours.

The spiritual link between praying in tongues and revelation knowledge is in the understanding of the word “mysteries.”  Which is truth only known by revelation.

1 Corinthians 2:7 but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.

There is a strong link between tongues & ancient revelation knowledge .Paul told the Corinthian church he was thankful he spoke with tongues more than all of them; He also stated that he had been made a steward of the mysteries of God.  What is a steward?  What are those mysteries?

A steward is an administrator. A rich man of that day would employ a steward, who acted as an administrator over the rich man’s wealth and goods

The steward guarded the rich man’s goods against waste, misuse, and theft .In order for Paul to be a good steward of the mysteries of God, he had to protect those mysteries against infiltration of false doctrine, legalism, Satan’s hatred for the Church, etc.

How did Paul do that?  By allowing the Holy Spirit to pray these very same mysteries through him hour after hour in tonguesHe knew it would release revelation of deep calling out to deep – our destiny .The mystery hidden for us of the vast sum of God’s thoughts about us (Psa 139).

When you start praying in tongues, you put yourself in the SpiritThe Holy Spirit bypasses your flesh, soul, and intellect and goes right to your spirit.

1 Cor 14:4 – Our spirit praying.

Jude 20 – Praying in the Holy Spirit.

1 Cor 6:17- But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

When we pray in tongues we join our spirit to the Lord’s

1 Cor 2:10- the Holy Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man. Holy Spirit & our spirit flow together in harmony through tongues.

1 Cor 14:4 One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; Tongues edifies or builds up our spirit .Tongues helps our spirit to grow and function .Tongues allows us to communicate with God .Tongues helps us tune in to God and know Him.

The goal of knowing is to encounter the Holy Spirit and let Him give revelation knowledge into our spirit and soul. Knowing must not be limited to left-brain (intellect) functions alone, we must use the right side of our brain (the creative part)

God communicates to us by a flow of spontaneous thoughts, impressions, pictures and knowing through the spirit to our soul/heart.

When we relax, more blood flows to the right hemisphere; thus, a relaxed person can more readily access right-brain functions. (Alpha waves). When we humbly seek God, divine revelation flows to the soul from our spirit

We need to Know God in our spirit, at the center of our being. We need to live from God consciousness, living from our spirit, entering rest. When you know you can see.  When you see you can be.  When you can be you can do. Know Him – be like Him – only do what we see Him doing.

Tongues 3 ways.

1-Out loud.

2-In your mind – conscious of the words.

3-In your spirit – bubbling not conscious of the words but aware of a flow.
