Joy, praise, rejoicing, and thanksgiving are all forms of the celebratory lifestyle that make it easier to enter the secret place in times of difficulty. Warriors practice being at rest. It is customary for them to spend excess time in worship. Rejoicing is their breath – a joyful, simple lifting of the heart in praise to our Father.
In times of great trial and stress I’ve become so grateful to the Father for the gift of speaking in tongues. Through warfare, prayer and singing in the spirit, through the activation and strengthening of my spirit I enter a different dimension where the problems of this world, loose their captivating hold upon me.
How wonderful to transcend thought and logic! How amazing not to be earthbound. The gift of a heavenly language takes us up and away from our circumstances. Tongues comes straight out of our innermost being, our spirit, our deepest heart, and touches God so quickly. We are transported into another dimension. It’s almost like time traveling. We close our eyes and speak in tongues out loud. As we continue, the world drops away from us, and we enter a different dimension of God’s presence.
Speaking in tongues has no human reason attached to it, only a heaven-sent intuition and knowledge. No wonder Paul exclaimed, I speak in tongues more than you all. When we examine the wonderful revelations of Christ he received, it would make us want to speak in tongues also!
When we examine his marvelous insights on life in the spirit and his deep adoration of Jesus, we know why he spent extra time using his heavenly language. It’s a transport device. It takes us directly into God’s presence; we come boldly before the throne of grace. What a fabulous gift!
I have several languages in the spirit. My intimate language sounds different than other types of tongues; all I know is it soothes my heart to adore God this way. A peace fills me. Often I have felt an astonishing lightness come over me. Every ounce of stress and tension melts away. The experience can be so powerful that I have to wait for strength to return to my body so that I can move again. During this time I can see a vision of my circumstances only with a different ending. I get to see what I should say and do. Revelatory keys come to me that open up the situation in a way that I would not have imagined.
My warfare tongue seems to be Indian. Sioux, Cheyenne, Navajo, Apache, and Cherokee; to name a few. For me it is the language of the declaration of God. When I speak out for this purpose, my voice is distinctive. My heart is full of who God is, and I must declare his goodness and sovereignty and judgment.
When I move into proclamation over the enemy or particular circumstances, my voice changes. My spirit rises up; strength fills me. My eyes flash. A confidence swells up in my chest. These are fighting words. The enemy often disappears at this point. Maybe he hears something in the sound of the voice. He is vulnerable to God’s authority and power that we know.
Speaking in tongues is a revelatory language that opens us up to the claims of heaven in our circumstances. I love my everyday language too. Just to be able to quiet naturally lift my heart to God and pour out words that are heartfelt, not logic driven, is such a beautiful experience.
Spiritual warriors are lovers of God. We can’t let a day go by without expressing our love, adoration, and desire for the Lord. We are lovesick people who just want to live one more day under His smile. We are occupied with him, and the confidence He gives us empowers us to see life through His lens.
The fathers lens is always Jesus. He puts us into Christ so that he could always see us in and through his beloved son. We are accepted in the beloved – Ephesians 1:6. We have a revelatory language that aids perception and releases provision.
There is no doubt in my own mind that speaking in tongues has empowered me, more than any other gift, to stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. In enables me to have a heart relationship with God that refreshes my soul, renews my mind, and increases my faith.
Speaking in tongues is a gift that seldom comes alone. It travels with wisdom, the word of knowledge, and prophecy. They are all revelatory insights: 100% military intelligence that is real and accurate, beforehand knowledge of the plans of the enemy – 2 Kings 6:8 – 12. Prophecy is history, spoken in advance – the future opening up to the present. Wisdom is the ability to know how God thinks, how he perceives, and how he likes to do things.
Beloved, this is not a fair fight. The weapons of our warfare are divinely inspired and powerful against enemy strongholds – 2 Corinthians 10:4. To receive under pressure is our privilege. The Holy Spirit replaces the tyranny of the enemy with the peace of God that passes all understanding. There is no logic to it; it’s beyond that completely. Logic keeps us earthbound. Revelatory insight comes from a different dimension. It is a manifestation of the spirit that comes from being in Christ in heavenly places.
Speaking in tongues is not an option, but a necessity. We can all speak in tongues; it is the language of heaven. Only logic prevents its reception and use. If you do not speak in tongues, ask the Holy Spirit for the gift. It is your right and privilege.
Speak out of your heart, not your head. The Holy Spirit uses our will and emotions first. Our mind is influenced by our spirit, and we receive a renewed capacity to think differently – Ephesians 4:20 – 24.
Our former manner of life was logical and reasonable. Our new man is intuitive, revelatory, and spiritual. What we hear in our spirit reforms our thinking. God does not speak to intellect; but he does use it, eventually. He communicates to our heart. The inner man of the spirit hears His voice. His words rise up in our hearts to touch our mind.
When He speaks to our hearts, we have an experience of Him to go with His words. If we try to receive Him in our head first, logic will make experience redundant (no longer needed or useful).
It is possible to have knowledge without wisdom. We know much, but we have no experience of what we know. Eventually we are disinherited because we know about God, but we don’t know him. We are like the elder brother who remained with the father, but knew him less than the prodigal.
This is the land of the religious and the Pharisee, where men make God in their own image; and intellectual study governs our thinking. We have no internal perception of God’s true reality, and our logic-based faith is so reasonable we cannot achieve anything with it.
If you do not speak in tongues, you must ask for the gift. You need it; God wants you to have it. That settles it. Asking you will receive. Keep on asking.
That’s the joy of prayer – certain communication that yields certain results. Open your mouth and speak out loud. (it’s connected to our emotions. You’ll love it!) It’s a language not like any other. It has structure, inflection. It may sound like one you know or have heard – that’s okay. Have fun! Enjoy the experience. Language develops – ask any 3-year-old.
Commission – get into a stronger habit of speaking in tongues more. Ask for a second language or a third. Each language needs a particular purpose, so pay attention to how you are going to use it. Remember: speak out loud. Feel the emotion of it. Relax in the intuition it brings. Have a notebook handy. Ask the Holy Spirit for an interpretation of what you prayed or declared. Don’t use reason when you listen – that comes later. Use intuition. Write down what you feel. Meditate on that. Think deeply. Keep a journal. Enjoy life.
