When our spirit is awakened, what is referred to in the bible as being born from above, it becomes alive unto God. Before this it is referred to as being dead in trespasses and sin.
There are many people who believe in God, they talk about him every day, but their spirits are not alive unto God.
When our spirit becomes alive unto God, it desires after God. There is a desire in our spirit, and if our spirit is not filled with God it is not satisfied, our spirit is continually crying out for God until we drink of His Spirit and are satisfied, until we become conscious of His presence.
The new birth of our spirit is instantaneous, but the salvation of our soul is a process where God’s thoughts become our thoughts, His feelings become our feelings, until our soul reflects the life of God flowing through our spirit.
Our spirit has to grow and our soul has to be transformed. We are two persons in one body, what is referred to in the Christian world as having two natures.
In reality if our spirit is alive unto God, the old man has been crucified, we do not have two natures, but our spirit has not grown and developed so we live in our soul and every once and a while we become aware of our spirit, like when we go to church, or talk to another believer, whenever our spirit comes into contact with the Spirit of God, or spiritual things, the rest of the time it is like our spirit is asleep.
Until we come into the experience of the dividing of soul and spirit. Our soul, the arena of our emotions, our desires, our imagination, our mind, our choices, our conscience, our will, all those things, are captivated by our body.
Our soul is effectively addicted to the sensation of our body and is looking for an expression of itself through our body, through sight, through taste, through hearing, through touch, and hearing.
Our soul has to come under subjection to our spirit, our soul has to be unified with our spirit, and come under the seat of rest or government of God in our spirit, so that we become a whole person, and not two people in one body, the spirit desiring one thing and the flesh another, so that we are powerless to carry out the will of God in the earth.
Our spirit has to grow up literally, so that we become a spirit being, able to see in the spirit, hear in the spirit, walk in the spirit and live in dual realms heaven and earth.
Almost every church you go to is on a soul-level, unless the leadership in that church has heavenly encounters. Actually there is only one church and that is in heaven.
As our spirit begins to grow and we learn how to walk in the spirit then the cloud of witness will show up in our assembling ourselves together, because this is what they have been waiting for.
What I wanted to say in this post- is that as our spirit grows and develops in the Lord, we are going to become aware of it, which opens up a whole new realm of existence for us. We are aware of our spirit, we keep it continually joined to the Lord, the life of God flows out of heaven continually into our spirit gates, through our soul gates, into our body gates and we create a kingdom atmosphere around us and everyone we meet comes into contact with the kingdom of God.
As we are continually aware of our spirit, every time that union of soul and body that acts independently of the lord- which is the flesh, crops up in our life, it is brought into subjection to the life flow of God in our spirit and has no expression in the earth.
