WALKING IN THE LIGHT
Jesus said of Himself in John 8:12, He said, I am the light of the world.
That was a statement about Himself. I am the light of the world. A little later, He also said we are the light of the world.
In Matthew chapter 5:14, Jesus said, you are the light of the world.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Firstly, He spoke it about Himself, I am the light of the world. Then He began to personalize it, and He said, you are the light of the world.
We’re living in a dark world, but Jesus said, you are the light of the world. Our spirit is light. We are supposed to be a bright shining light, the light in a darkened world.
There are two kinds of light, created light and uncreated light. YHWH is uncreated light, and He ministers to us in this kind of light.
And so, I want to talk about the importance of dwelling in light, walking in the light, moving in light, what light is, and how we can rest under various anointings of the Holy Spirit that have their foundation in the light of God.
We know in the natural world that light is a form of energy. It travels 186,000 miles per second.
And mankind is just learning to harness light with some of its uses today. We have the technology of the laser and how surgeons can now perform operations, they can use a laser for all kinds of things today.
Man is beginning to harness pure light. But you know that God is the light of everything.
The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy 6:16 who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.
This is about the Lord, it says, who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light. God dwells in the light. If we’re to walk with Him, if we’re to have fellowship with Him, if we’re to know Him, we’ve got to live in the light. We’ve got to walk in the light.
The Bible says if you walk in the light, you have fellowship with Him. And so, walking in the light is very, very important, because Jesus said we are supposed to become the light of the world.
And what does that mean in tangible form? We are the light that shines in the world. Are you radiating light? The power of God is a form of light. God lives and dwells in light. Wherever God is, there is light.
And if the Lord was to appear in His fullness, He would illuminate the room we are in.
God is light and that light takes many forms and can be transmitted in many ways. It can be transmitted to bring healing. It can be transmitted to bring revelation.
HIS LIGHT OVERSHADOWING US
When we were born from above the Holy Spirit overshadowed us, and quickened our spirit, and you can see the result in the eyes of the new convert.
When God’s light overshadows us, there are various kinds of light that God can bring. And it just takes a little of his light to overshadow us. Through his light we can have revelation, understanding, and insight.
The power of God can begin to flow in us and through us. In the natural world, we know that light breaks down into seven colors. If you were to put white light through a prism, it would break it down, that prism would break it down into seven colors, the seven colors of the rainbow. And white light has those various properties of various colors inherent within it. And it takes a prism to break it down. And the prism just differentiates between the various wavelengths of that light, and we have the seven colors that come out of it.
The colors of the rainbow, each color has a different wavelength. So, it is in the spiritual, except there are more colors in heaven.
As it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual. There are seven aspects of the light of God, that I want to talk about. Seven aspects of God’s light, seven basic anointings of the Spirit that can rest upon us. And we must learn how to walk in the light to stay under those various anointings. And they can come on us at any time. And that light can work many things within our life.
But it’s in the light that these things operate. There are seven aspects of light or seven basic anointings that we need to become familiar with.
THE SEVEN SPIRITS OF GOD
Isaiah 11:3 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots. 2 “THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD” shall rest upon Him, “THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM” and “UNDERSTANDING”. “THE SPIRIT OF COUNSEL” and “MIGHT”, “THE SPIRIT OF KNOWLEDGE” and of “THE FEAR OF THE LORD”.3 His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears.
The word “and” is not in the original manuscript. I believe this scripture talks about spiritual beings that are not angels; and they are sent to us to mentor us and bring us into sonship.
Some believers believe that these are seven aspects of the Spirit of God. Some believe that they are angels. But so far, I have experienced two of them.
I am willing to listen to other Christians and what they believe about them, but I do not get into debates or arguments. You are powerful, you can believe what you want. I just share my encounters and experiences with you, so that it may help you in your own personal walk with God.
I was literally shot through the universe at the speed of light and met the Spirit of Council. I was co-pastoring a church, and I believe the Spirit of Council was assigned to me to help me Pastor people.
The Spirit of the fear of the Lord will come upon me, when I am waiting on the Lord (a focused listening) and My body will literally tremble as He shows me the depth of my sin, and where I have missed it in ministering to people.
I do not believe we can totally get set free from sin without the help of the Spirit of the fear of the Lord.
These are seven spirits that are around the throne of God, but they have spirits under them with the same anointing that are sent to us to prepare us for sonship.
But to avoid conflict let’s just call them seven anointings of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of the Lord can rest upon us. The Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.
SEVEN ASPECTS OF THE ANOINTING
There are seven aspects of the anointing which can come down in a church service, or which can come on over a person. And when that anointing or that light comes upon a person, certain things begin to happen in their life.
Isaiah begins to list the seven basic anointings that were upon Jesus in Isaiah 11. The servant, the branch, is prophetic of the Lord Jesus Christ. And he says, these spirits, these anointings shall rest upon him.
What is the result of that? We will see in the next verse, number 3. And it shall make him quick of understanding in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, nor reprove after the hearing of his ears, but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
So, it says he will not operate with natural abilities. When these anointings were upon him, He would not operate in the natural, but he would operate in a totally different realm, in the realm of the Spirit.
He will not judge what he sees after his natural eyesight, but what the Spirit shows him. And so, the result of those anointings was that he was brought up into a whole new level of the Spirit.
In the book of Zechariah, the second to the last book in the Old Testament, Zechariah was prophesying about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in conjunction with the building of the temple.
In Zechariah chapter 4 and verse 6 he’s saying that if anything is accomplished it’s by the Spirit of the Lord. Verse 6 says then he answered and said unto me saying this is the word of the Lord and to Zerubbabel saying it’s not by might it’s not by power but it’s by the Spirit saith the Lord. If we’re going to accomplish anything in the Kingdom of God, it’s got to be done with the anointing. It’s got to be done by the Spirit of God. It’s not by natural might, it’s not by natural power, but it’s by the Spirit of the Lord.
And so that is the background, that is the theme, and he’s saying if you’re going to get this thing done in God, it’s got to be done by the Holy Spirit.
And then in verse 10, of chapter 4, he said this, for who hath despised the day of small things, but they shall rejoice and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel. And then he says this, with those seven. They are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro throughout the earth. Those seven, the seven eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro throughout the whole earth.
Now, what are these seven eyes of the Lord? Well, in chapter three of Zechariah, chapter three 8 ‘Hear, O Joshua, the high priest, You and your companions who sit before you, For they are a wondrous sign; For behold, I am bringing forth My Servant the BRANCH.9 For behold, the stone That I have laid before Joshua: Upon the stone are seven eyes.
And he’s talking again about that real anointing of the Holy Spirit, the eyes of the Lord. So, Isaiah chapter 11 refers to the Lord as a branch, and he says, these seven anointings shall rest upon him.
Zechariah is referring to the Lord as a branch, and then he refers to him as a stone, or the chief cornerstone, and there shall be seven anointings upon him, the seven eyes of the Lord. Zechariah also said that these seven, which are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro throughout the whole earth.
And so he links the seven eyes of the Lord, the seven spirits of the Lord, with seven anointings that were upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Seven aspects of the anointing, or seven specific anointings that rested upon him. Reference is made again to the eyes of the Lord in 2 Chronicles 16 and verse 9.
2 Chronicles 16:9 tells us, For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show themselves strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards Him.
All right, the eyes of the Lord run to and fro. These angels, these seven spirits of the Lord are in constant motion. They run to and fro throughout the whole earth. And it says they are looking to those whose heart is pure.
Blessed is the pure in heart, they shall see God. So, purity of heart and the anointing go together. And so, we see again the eyes of the Lord are referred to, these seven eyes of the Lord which run to and fro throughout the whole earth.
There are seven basic anointings which God wants to increase on our life. And at times any one of these anointings will come upon us and do tremendous things for us, cause us to be tremendously successful in the purposes of the Lord. They are the spirits of the Lord.
These seven spirits of the Lord, these seven anointings, these seven spirits of the Lord, are seven angelic beings. They’re seven angels, we’ll see later, which stand before the throne of God. These seven angels are carriers of the anointing.
When one of those spirits come into our service, He brings with Him that particular anointing. When the Holy Spirit would bring one of those angels in to manifest Himself in our midst, that particular anointing flows onto the service.
Or in your own individual life, that particular anointing can flow over your life and it can be a very real thing.
If we look a bit further at this, we can come and see it in the book of Revelation. In Revelation chapter 1, the first chapter of the book of Revelation. And we’ll just read a few verses there.
It’s important to establish a good foundation in this. Because if we understand it, we can move into it. You can only move into that which you can see. You can only move into that which you can understand. That which you can see, you can move into. So, if we see it, we can begin to move into it in a greater way.
In Revelation chapter 1 and verse 12, it reads like this. It says, And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me, and being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks. The seven branched lampstands represent seven basic anointings. There were seven, the seven branch candlestick in the tabernacle which represented the Holy Spirit and the seven basic anointings and so we have now this seven branch candlestick and it’s referred to here in chapter 1 verse 12 and then in chapter 1 and in verse 4 John said this. John to the seven churches which are in Asia.
Grace be unto you and peace from Him which is and which was, and which is to come. He says, all right, grace and peace to you from the Lord Himself and from the seven spirits which are before His throne. And he links the two together. He said, Grace and peace to you from the Lord Jesus Christ for Him that is and was and is to come and from the seven spirits that stand before the throne of God.
And so, there are seven angelic beings which stand before the throne of God. And they are representative of the anointing, the seven anointings, which God wants to bring us under and into.
In chapter 4 of Revelation and verse 5, it reads like this. Revelation chapter 4 and verse 5, it says, and round about the throne were four and twenty seats and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting clothed in white raiment and they had on their heads crowns of gold and out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunders and voices and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne of God which are the seven spirits of God.
And so this time it’s referred to as seven lamps which are before the throne of God, seven eyes of the Lord, the seven anointings of the Lord, the seven lamps of the Lord, the seven branch candlestick, all referring to these various anointings.
Those angels which stand before the presence of the Lord have myriads of angelic powers under them, which are carriers of the anointing.
And they come to us in seven basic ways. The first one we read in the book of Isaiah in chapter 11 was the Spirit of the Lord. Now, let me just say, in Revelation chapter 4 and verse 3, it also speaks about a rainbow around the throne, where the seven spirits stood, where the seven lamps were. There was a rainbow around the throne, verse 3 tells us that. The seven spirits of the Lord are represented by seven colors.
Seven colors, and it’s important to understand this for the sake of discernment. You see, light breaks down into seven colors. And in the realm of the Spirit, as it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual, the Bible tells us, in the realm of the Spirit, these seven anointings break down, or these seven forms of light and energy, and anointing of God break down into seven different wavelengths, or seven different colors, seven different aspects of the power of God in operation.
And we begin with the Spirit of the Lord. Jesus said, The Spirit of the Lord does rest upon me. That was the first anointing, the Spirit of the Lord, and that is symbolized in the Word of God by the color red, and we’ll look at that a little later.
Then there’s the Spirit of wisdom, which is orange, orange or a ambery color, the colors of the rainbow.
The Spirit of understanding, which is yellow.
The Spirit of counsel, which is green.
If you were to see someone and you see them clothed in a certain hue of color, what would you discern from that?
If your spiritual eyes were opened and there was just a slight hue around us, there is an emanation from all of us. But if you saw, say, a slight greenish hue around me, what kind of anointing would be upon me?
It would be the spirit of counsel. The spirit of counsel is green. The spirit of might is blue. The spirit of knowledge is indigo, coming down through the rainbow, and the fear of the Lord is violet.
And we can learn to understand and pick up what is happening in a particular place by the color of the presence of the Lord. The hue of the glory or the presence of God can be picked up.
If we can see in the spirit, there would be a slight color over the congregation. There’d be just a slight hue over the congregation, depending on what presence of the Lord is there. If we understand that, and we can see that in the realm of the Spirit, we can understand what anointing is present, and we can learn to flow with that particular anointing.
And just as you’re able to see angels, just as you’re able to see into the realm of the Spirit, so you can see colors. There are colors in the realm of the Spirit, which are beyond the wavelength of the natural eye, but in the realm of the Spirit, you can perceive them. And you can understand what is happening.
A number of years ago, there was an incredible outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the turn of the century in China. And it came on a group of young people, orphans, missionaries who were looking after orphans, preaching the gospel and so on. And it’s recorded in the book Visions Beyond the Veil. It’s an incredible book, you need to read it. Visions Beyond the Veil by H. A. Baker. And it’s a very, very good book because it describes some of the things that happened during that incredible outpouring of the Holy Spirit in China. And how these kids were saved, baptized in the Holy Spirit, caught up into the presence of God, and it describes that revival.
There is a passage in it where he’s talking, this missionary, about the presence of the Holy Spirit in various forms during that revival. He talks about the Holy Spirit as a wind. At one point they were gathered together and they felt the wind, literally the wind blew through the place. And dozens of kids were instantly baptized in the Holy Spirit.
And he said, we had no problem believing, you know, the book of Acts, which said a rushing mighty wind came in. That happened in the revival in the Solomons a few years ago. And it started when there was a service, and they in a large hall, but with open windows, large hall because it was in the tropics. And then suddenly, and these were just evangelical people that were not Pentecostal, but they’d been seeking God for weeks and weeks for a move of the spirit among their islands. And suddenly the missionaries described it as a wind that swept in.
And they thought, oh, there’s a hurricane coming up, or there’s a typhoon and we better batten down the windows, and they started battening down the windows, but it made no difference. That wind swept right through the whole building, swept people off their feet and then the missionaries realized what it was because as they hit the deck they were speaking in other tongues. Evangelicals in the Solomons don’t do that kind of thing and so they didn’t know how to control it but it was out of control because of the Holy Spirit.
God began to baptize people all over the place. And people began to prophesy, speak in other tongues, and it was against their doctrine, but God came in.
They’d been praying for revival, and God answered in a way which they weren’t prepared for. And that triggered off a move of the Spirit in the Solomons. But it came as a rushing mighty wind. And he describes this in this book about these kids who fell under that kind of power. And then he has this little paragraph. He says, The Holy Spirit also came as seven lamps. And he said, at times of special outpourings of the Holy Spirit, these seven lamps of fire were seen to be let down from heaven into the room, into our very midst. At other times… The children saw visions of Christ on the throne and saw the seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.
And he said, in the first days of the outpouring of the Spirit, one small boy spoke in pure prophecy, when in the Spirit he seemed to be in heaven at the feet of Jesus. And the Lord spoke through him in the first person, clearing up many things the children did not understand, and telling them how to wait upon the Lord, how to tarry, what to do when the anointing came and the Spirit of the Lord came, and what hindered the moving of the Spirit of the Lord. And He said, The Holy Spirit would descend and give you power to preach the gospel, to cast out demons, to heal the sick.
The Holy Spirit, He said, now beginning to prophesy, is in seven colors, red, blue, and other colors. And one of the older boys then said that when the Spirit had been upon him, he had seen a great red light and other colors.
The word of the Lord explained to him, to this and others, that these different colors were different anointings of the Holy Spirit. And then he goes on to speak about the revival in Wales, how that many times during the revival in Wales, the Spirit began to move and that colors were in evidence. The Holy Spirit is in seven basic colors and if we learn to see into the realm of the Spirit, we can discern exactly what is going on. Sometimes we come into a meeting before it even starts and there’s a particular hue over that meeting and if we understand that and we see that, we can have some understanding of what God wants to do and the way that God wants to work. And sometimes you will come into your quiet time, and you’ll come into a room and you’ll just be aware of the presence of the Lord in a certain, glory presence of the Lord will just be perceptible but in a certain color. If you understand that you’ll understand what God wants to do with you during that quiet time and then you can yield to that and allow the Holy Spirit to work through you.
So there are seven basic anointings. The first is the Spirit of the Lord and that’s not just a general anointing that’s a specific anointing.
In Luke chapter 4 and verse 18 Jesus said the Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach. The Spirit of the Lord is a prophetic anointing and when the Spirit of the Lord comes down, that prophetic anointing is angelic. It is an angelic being that has come into our midst that carries that prophetic anointing. And it can be for prophecy, it can be for preaching, preaching under an inspired flow of the Holy Spirit. It can be for prophetic revelation, teaching on the end of this age, or for understanding what God is saying now. It’s a general prophetic anointing.
And when you get that anointing strong, it comes into a service, and that angelic presence is there.
Almost anyone who has learned to prophesy can prophesy. When that anointing is there, you can just move out in it. It will flow. You just plug into it. His presence is there, and you just plug into it, and you’re away.
And so, when that prophetic anointing comes, it is a specific angelic presence. So, he’s there in most services. Sometimes he’s strong. Sometimes the rank of that angel is lesser, and his power is lesser for various reasons, but it is a prophetic anointing that comes upon us, and it’s angelic. The Holy Spirit brings him in, and it’s angelic, and he sheds a form of light over us, just a form of light. There is a redness to that light, and it just comes over us. And the power of that light is a prophetic anointing. And it begins to flow and we learn how to respond to that. We learn how to move in that. We learn how to recognize when it is there.
There is a second anointing which is the spirit of wisdom, and there is that orangey or amber color and it’s an anointing for wisdom or in the Hebrew it has a wisdom or skill, and it can take us into wisdom or into ability or understanding beyond the natural. But quite often it’s connected with ability to do something, beyond your natural training. It’s wisdom that comes in the form of a light or an anointing. You can be at work and be lost on just what to do next or how to handle a situation and call on the Lord for help and suddenly that angelic presence can be there. Just stand right next to you. And if you draw on that and you’re aware of it, that light will come over you. You will transcend into a whole new dimension of ability and perception.
And you can reach out into a dimension that is beyond the natural. This is how they built the Tabernacle. And you know, the Tabernacle they built in the Old Testament was an incredible building. And these guys were out there in the wilderness, of all places and didn’t have many tools, they didn’t have much to work with because they were in the wilderness. They didn’t have any workshops as we understand them. They came out into the wilderness and built an incredible building.
Exodus chapter 31 and verses 3 through 5 say this- and I have filled, he’s talking about this guy named Bezalel. It says I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom and in understanding and knowledge of all workmanship, to devise cunning works, and works of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and in the cutting of stones to set them, and to the carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.
And He gave him some other guys to be with him, but He anointed them with the spirit of wisdom. And they were able to do things which were beyond their natural skill.
It is the seven-branch lampstand that cannot be duplicated today, even with our modern technology. They don’t know how to do it. It was made from one piece, beaten, hollow on the insides. Because the oil had to flow through the seven. And they puzzled over it for years. How did they do it? How did they build that in one piece? It wasn’t welded together; it was made in one piece.
Even today, they have trouble trying to figure out how that could be done. But you see, there was some little guy who came along and said, Yeah, Moses asked me to make this thing, and he thought about it and said, well, I don’t know how to make this. And suddenly, there was light on them. He knew how to make it. He did not just knew how to make it, but he had the skill to do it.
It was that anointing, we live far below God’s potential in us. We really do. We’ll reach a summit when all kingdoms become
God’s kingdom, but God wants us to come up to a dimension now in our lives and be successful where God has placed us.
There is an anointing for everything we need to do in God, and in the secular world, there is an anointing for that too.
And these guys in the Old Testament were anointed and it lifted them beyond the level of their natural ability. So, it works in the secular workplace. It works in the spiritual realm, the church, to know what to do and how to do it.
Sometimes that anointing can come upon us and give us a word of wisdom. That anointing will activate a word of wisdom, a gift of the Spirit. Or it can go beyond that and give us wisdom and skill on how to do something.
The spirit of wisdom shall rest upon us. The spirit of understanding, that’s yellow.
You know, you can be highly educated but have no understanding. A lot of people are highly educated and don’t have a lot of wisdom. People can be highly educated but have very little understanding about life.
And there is a difference, you see, the spirit of understanding. You can be trained as a printer but have no idea how printing changed the course of history.
You see, understanding is another thing altogether. And God can anoint us to give us incredible understanding, to understand what God is doing and why. Understanding in many areas of life.
When you reject the truth, God gives you over to the counterfeit. That is a basic principle. When you reject light and truth as being light and truth, and it’s evident, and it’s clear that it is God, and then you reject it, you’re given over to the counterfeit. And then you can go into divination through color therapy, that’s using colors for divination, diagnostic and so on.
And this has happened where a whole movement began operating in healing through color therapy. And it was a counterfeit spirit. This was because God was moving through a group of people in divine healing and this movement rejected it and said it was of the devil and the next thing you know they were moving in divination through color therapy,
And we ask the Lord, I don’t know how that could have happened. But suddenly when that light comes over you, in a moment, in a few seconds, you know why. That’s understanding that comes from the Spirit.
And there are many things in life, we look around the world and say, why does that happen? What’s the reason behind this thing happening in the world? What is going on?
And it requires understanding, it requires an anointing, a perception, to have understanding as to really what’s going on.
We can be highly educated but have very little understanding.
What is going on in the world today? Why are these things happening? What does God say behind it? What is the truth of the matter? What is behind that situation?
Understanding comes through an anointing of the Spirit. And it is an angelic presence that just comes in. And you can pick up on it, tune into it. The spirit of wisdom has just a slight yellowish hue, the glory presence of Him.
If you pick this up in the Spirit, He’s there. If you yield to that, yield to it, suddenly that anointing will begin to flow over you, and God will give you understanding.
There are times when that has been on me, and I’ve asked question after question after question, as fast as I can, before it lifts, to try and get the answers. And then suddenly, it’s gone, it’s left, it’s gone.
Sometimes you ask him about things which he doesn’t want to show you, so he backs off a bit. But, you know, when it’s there, I like to get in as much as I can while it’s there, because it’s an incredible anointing for understanding. And it comes. It’s one of the seven spirits of the Lord.
There’s the spirit of Counsel. The spirit of counsel. The Hebrew word for that is advice, and its color is green. It’s like a green hue (color), the spirit of counsel.
One of the names of God is Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Counselor.
Some people have problems, some people are in a situation, they just need to be taught the word of what the Bible teaches. They need to be taught the word, some people just don’t understand the word, so they just need some teaching in the word.
Other people need a word from the Lord, and there’s a difference between the two. A lot of problems can be cleared up by just basic teaching, lack of understanding of what the Bible teaches, and so that’s their problem, and so we teach, it’s important to teach and understand the Word of God. Some people just need to be taught God’s Word.
Sometimes people need a word from God, they need the Word of the Lord, and that comes through the Spirit of counsel. That comes through an anointing that comes upon us, where you can say, now this is the Word of the Lord to you. That is a totally different thing of just teaching the Word of God.
We all need to be taught the Word of God, but there are times when the Spirit of counsel comes upon us, and we can tell a person, what is the Word of the Lord? It can come through prophecy, It can come through revelation. And there are times when I’m counseling someone, or there’s a situation, and I look at the situation, I think, no matter how much I teach, teach them or give them understanding of the principles of God’s word, it’s not going to meet their need. They need a word from God in this particular situation.
And so, we’re waiting upon the Lord, and usually, not always, but usually the spirit of counsel will come, and it comes as an anointing, and usually the spirit of counsel is not very perceptible. It’s very, very gentle. It just comes to you, and as you learn to wait on that, as you learn to perceive that, and you learn not to move too quickly, but just wait in the presence of the spirit of Counsel, the word of the Lord will come. And quite often I’ve been able to say to a person, now this is God’s Word. This is the Word of the Lord to you. This is counsel, not just from understanding principles out of the Word of God, but this is what God is saying to you in this specific situation.
And I say, well, this I believe is what God is saying to you. This is the Word of the Lord to you.
Sometimes it comes in a dream, and you need to go to a person and say, this is what God is saying. Sometimes it comes through prophecy, sometimes it comes just through revelation and quite often it comes right at the beginning. You know someone will talk to you and say you know I’ve got a problem with this and in the first few seconds when they are speaking often the answer will come. We wait; we talk around it. But we got to come back to it, that’s what God said. Quite often just in the first few seconds, suddenly you know what the word of the Lord is. Sometimes a person will just pass me and say something to me just in passing and just in that second, I have the word of the Lord. It’s that quick. It’s just there. And usually what you get first is right. If you wait on it, you probably tend to either dilute it, add to it, or rationalize it. Try and put it another way, but usually it’s in the first few seconds. The person talks to you about a situation, or sometimes even before they’re talking to me, and even before they’ve gotten out what the problem is, I have the answer. And I have to wait for them to tell me and then give them the answer. But it’s usually in the first few seconds, ooh, it’s there. And usually we override that and try to go on a bit further to find out what their problem is and then think about it all and think oh I wonder what the answer is and finally we come back and say well you know the first few seconds God really gave you something and so you come back and give them the word of the Lord. That it is an anointing, that kind of counseling is an anointing and it can come upon you. It’s a very gentle anointing you must be fairly still in your spirit to catch it. I’ll stay with it, I’ll understand it. Stillness is required in your spirit for that. And it is the word of the Lord.
And there is a great need at times to bring the word of the Lord to people. A prophetic anointing, if you like, but the word of the Lord to a person. And that person needs to go away and prove that, of course, because in the mouth of two or three witnesses, let everything be established. And if I come to you and say, look, I really feel this is the word of the Lord… don’t take it as gospel. You go away and say, Lord, confirm that to me. It’s in the mouth of two or three witnesses. But nevertheless, the word of the Lord operates under the spirit of counsel and can be very accurate and can be, Thus saith the Lord. This is what God is saying to you. And usually, I will never back down from it, even though it seems concrete or maybe what that person is thinking, or usually if I have that anointing and I feel it, I know it is the Lord.
They must prove it out in their own life, that’s their problem, but it’s the word of the Lord. And it comes from the spirit of counsel.
There is the spirit of might. There’s an incredible anointing, the spirit of might. And it’s a power to enforce God’s will. The Spirit of Might shall rest upon him. There are several operations. The Spirit of Might rested upon Samson. Samson was just an ordinary little guy. He wasn’t like they drew him in the kid’s story books. He was just an ordinary guy. But when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, the Spirit of Might, he was indestructible. I mean, something unusual happened to him. They couldn’t tie him, they couldn’t hold him down, he picked up the gates of the city and marched off with it. He was just an average little guy. What happened? The spirit of might came upon him, it’s an angelic presence that infused into Samson such power, a light infused him. Just that that presence, that light came into him, transformed him. Nobody could touch him.
The three Hebrew children, they threw them in an incredibly hot furnace. And just as they were thrown through the door, an angel of the Spirit of Might came over them. They just stood in there, walked around, couldn’t even feel the heat. They were just immune as they were clothed with that light, that form of light, that anointing.
And to tell you, at the end of this age, the Spirit of Might concerning this area of protection is going to come upon the elect. And people are going to survive in all kinds of situations which will be impossible in the natural world to survive. But it is just that they’re clothed with the spirit of might. They become indestructible.
Some of David’s mighty men, you know, they fought and fought and fought for hour after hour after hour. And it says one guy there killed 300 men. That’s supernatural. You can’t do that naturally. And it says his sword clave to his hand in the end. It was supernatural, he was clothed in the spirit of might. There are other operations of the spirit of might. The whole area of miracles, the miraculous, operates under the anointing of the spirit of might. All the miraculous area, working of miracles. The spirit of might operates in the binding of powers too. Binding the spirits, particularly principalities and powers. There are times in spiritual warfare when we are dealing with powers that are arrayed against us.
Sometimes when we are in spiritual warfare, and suddenly something clothes us. And we know the battle’s over. And we know if we just open our mouth and address that spirit and deal with it, bind it and cast it down, and it may be a principality, it may be a power, but when we feel that we know its days are numbered.
We will become very calm in our spirit, and we just deal with that spirit, but it’s a clothing of the spirit of might that brings an end to what that power has been doing. It brings tremendous authority in the realm of the spirit, and the thing will go down. And there’s tremendous power and authority released with it.
And quite often that will operate with us, that anointing will come alongside us, and that angelic force will stand next to us, often when we are in spiritual warfare. And after we’ve been going at it for a while, we can feel the presence of the spirit of might. And we feel invincible. I can’t describe it, but I know we’ve got it, and I know whatever I say, we’ll be done with that power. But that’s not a natural thing. You can’t just do this. You cannot just do this naturally. It is in the clothing of the Spirit, the Spirit of might. And He sheds some of that light over you. It infuses into you, and you just become invincible in God.
Then there’s the Spirit of knowledge. To know the truth of a matter. Usually it’s connected to the Hebrew, it is knowledge via the senses, either in a vision, you see something, or you hear something, God will show you something. The word of knowledge operates under that anointing, discerning of spirits operates under that anointing.
When that anointing is there, those two will come into operation. When it will go beyond that, it can be knowledge of what God is saying, it can be a knowledge of what is going to happen. There are times when I’ve looked at a person and I know what’s going to happen to them. I just know, or a situation, and I know what’s going to happen. In the natural, you can’t know that. It’s not a word of knowledge, it’s something different. But there’s just an anointing which comes on me, and I know what’s going to happen to them. I don’t know how I know, but certainly I just know. Knowing things that are going to happen, or a word of knowledge operates under that anointing, discerning of spirits.
And the last one is the spirit of the fear of the Lord, which is an incredible anointing which brings conviction, an acute awareness of sin. It operates with the seraphim.
I was reading of a revival in India several years ago. And they had an incredible outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I was reading about it, and it says- And the work of India… This was in a girls’ Christian school in India. It says, In the work of India, the girls in the school were so wonderfully wrought upon and baptized in God’s power, that great conviction came upon them. Great light was given to them. When delivered, they jumped up and down for hours for joy without fatigue. In fact, we’re even stronger for it. They cried out with great conviction and repentance when the burning flame of God began to touch their lives. Some fell as they saw a great light pass before them, while the fire of God burned their members and the body of sin and pride and anger and love of the world and selfishness and uncleanness, they neither ate nor slept till the victory was won. Then the joy was so great that for two or three days after receiving this visitation of God, nobody could eat. He said, the missionary said about 20 of the girls fell under the Spirit of God at one time and became seemingly unconscious to this world for hours, some of them for three or four days. During that time, they sang, prayed, clapped their hands, sat still. When they became conscious again, they told the scene, the throne of God, the angels of the Lord, they’d walked around heaven. It was a great time of rejoicing. Soon, the whole place was aflame, and school had to be suspended. They forgot to eat or sleep, and whole nights and days were absorbed in prayer and waiting upon God. The Spirit was poured on them in an incredible way. One time during the night, a girl was sleeping next to another girl, and she said her companion sleeping next to her awoke. Seeing fire enveloped her, she ran across the dormitory and threw a pail of water on her.
But it was the Holy Spirit, of course, never went out. In less than an hour, nearly all the girls were in the compound again, were weeping and praying and confessing their sins. And many of them were invested in a strange but beautiful and supernatural fire. This is going to happen to our young people, I know it. God’s going to come upon them and baptize them in fire. And he’s going to do a new thing. He went on to say, the spontaneous composition of hymns was a curious feature of some of these meetings. It says, while at prayer, in the company of girls, supernaturally, pictures appeared on the walls depicting the life of Christ. The figures moved in the pictures and were in colors. Each view would last from 2 to 10 minutes, and then the light would gradually fade and reappear with another scene a few moments later. This went on and appeared, went on for 12 hours and were not just seen by the girls, but the heathen from all around began to come, and many were converted as the gospel just appeared before them on the walls. These pictures were all depicting faithfully the Bible narration, were entirely supernatural, had tremendous effect of breaking the hardness of heart. And then he just goes on, how that God continued to outpour His Spirit in great revival.
That is going to happen. That is going to happen in a dimension which is unbelievable. Your kids are going to be transformed by the outpouring of the Spirit of God, and set on fire with God, and are going to reach this generation for Christ. I’m going to tell you; it’s going to happen. I’ve been praying a lot since the other night when I began to feel what was coming. God’s going to pour out His Spirit, and it’s going to be something new. It’s not going to be the old way. In fact, I believe the old way is one of the things that God is speaking to me. What we’ve had in the past can get in the way with what God wants to do in this next move of the Spirit.
There are many things we did, and we don’t want meetings for the sake of meetings. We want God to come into our midst. God is going to do a new thing, it will be in a new way, and we’ve got to be open to that, open to change, open to new things, because God’s going to pour out His Spirit.
The Bible tells us in James 1 and verse 17 that all good gifts come down from the Father of lights. That anointing of the Holy Spirit, those gifts, those anointings come down from the Father of light.
The Bible tells us in Colossians 1 and verse 12 that our inheritance is in light. How do you get into those anointings? How do you move in them? Well, you’ve got to live in the light. Those angels operate in the light. Those anointings operate in the light.
And I just want to read a scripture to you from 1 John chapter 1 and verse 5, it just reads like this and it’s talking about light, living in the light, walking in the light, 1 John 1:5 and it says this- this then is the message which we have heard from him and declare unto you that God is light. This is the theme of this chapter. God is light and in him is no darkness at all. Then in chapter 2 of 1 John and verse 10 it says this- He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there’s no occasion of stumbling in him.
I don’t have time to develop this now. But if we walk in love, we walk in light. It’s as simple as that. To walk in the Spirit, we walk in love. If you walk in love, love and light are related as the same thing in the Epistles of John. You read it through for yourself. Love and light are the same thing, they go together. If you always walk in love, love for God and love for your fellow man, you’ll walk in the light. And you’ll walk under those anointings of the Spirit, then they will increase in your life.
Love always seeks the highest good for every person in every situation, whether they be friends, whether they be enemies, whether they be for you, whether they be against you, is not the issue.
We walk in love and love seeks the highest good for everyone. We do the best and the highest good, and we seek the highest good for people who are with us, people who are against us, people who are our friends, people who are our enemies. We seek the highest good.
If you walk in love, you’ll fulfill the law, the Bible tells us, and if you walk in love, you’ll walk in light, and if you walk in the light, those anointings are available to you. It’s not complicated. We make it complicated. How do you get into the anointings? Walk in the light. Those anointings, those angels dwell in light. Those lights have various colors; they come in various wavelengths because they have various ministrations. And you can come under any of them at any time if you are walking in the light.
And as we come under that, we are lifted into the realm of the Spirit. It’s not by might, it’s not by power, but it’s by My Spirit, saith the Lord.
There’s one other area. Our mission is to build the body of Christ. Our mission is not to build a local church. God does that. It is God who builds the church. And I’m not interested in all the great principles of church growth and all that kind of thing. We’re not into the numbers game.
God’s going to build His church. But our interest has got to be building the body of Christ. And we’ll assist anyone; we’ll minister to anyone. It doesn’t matter if they don’t come back to the church we are in. It doesn’t matter if they go to some other church. If we build the body of Christ, God will build His church. And we’ve got to focus on that.
There’s a whole stream out there which is totally orientated in building their own house, their own little kingdom. And we saw that in the charismatic move. The end of that road is not good. But if we build up the body of Christ, God will take care of His own house. And if we walk in the light and continue to build His body, I don’t care if people come to the church we are in and get ministered to and get blessed and then go to some other church, praise the Lord for that, go back to some other church, that’s great! Let’s keep ministering to people. Let’s keep building His body. And if we do that, we built it on one basis, that we were there to bless the body of Christ. And as we bless the body of Christ, God builds His own church. And so those two areas are very, very important. Walking in the light, and we will build His body. God is not going to give us an anointing to do our own thing. God’s not going to give us an anointing to build our own little kingdom. He’s going to give us an anointing to build the body. And if that is uppermost in our mind and uppermost in our thinking and uppermost in our philosophy, we’ll have the anointing of the Holy Spirit. As you walk in love, love at all times, you’ll walk in the light, that anointing of the Spirit will come upon you. I want you to be open to the Spirit and see if you can sense just one of those anointings when you wait upon the Lord in your devotions.
God wants to confirm His word, and He wants you to just see if you can sense the presence of the Lord, the glory of the Lord. Just see if you can sense what anointing is present next time you go to a spirit-filled church. It’s good exercise for you, so that you can begin to learn to discern. There’ll be times when you’ll just come into your devotions before the Lord, just come into spending some time. If you do it in a particular room or wherever, you’ll come in there and just sense that awareness. Maybe it’s a color, the presence of the Lord, so you’ll know how to respond to that.
It takes a while to become used to it, sensitive to it, and some of the seven spirits of God are very gentle, so you just must be still and perceptive. But God is always present with us, and if we have a walk with the Lord, the seven spirits of the Lord, and some of the cloud of witnesses are going to come and visit us. The cloud of witnesses wants to trade into our ministry. If we have a ministry like theirs when they were on the earth, they will visit us and help us. And the seven spirits of God are with the elect to help bring them into mature sonship. You will begin to sense when they are talking to you, their voice is different than the Trinity.
There is the angelic presence, carriers of the anointing. And once it’s there, you can move into it and just use it in the sense of it’s available to you.
When you come into your quiet time and you spend some time worshiping the Lord, just become very still. Let your spirit become still, let your mind become still, and just wait in the presence of the Lord. Penetrate the realm of the spirit. Look beyond the veil. And what you begin to pick up, what you become aware of, then move into that.
And if it’s the spirit of wisdom, begin to ask questions. If it’s the spirit of understanding, begin to ask questions. Begin to ask the Lord just gently from your spirit, don’t be too harsh. Just gently, become aware of your own spirit, expand it and ask questions.
Become aware of situations, if there’s a problem in the family you need understanding on. And you sense that anointing, then just gently bring it up and wait for perception to come.
It can come in many ways. It can come across the screen of your mind; you can see the situation clearly across the screen of your mind. Or it can come just by an awareness, you know it.
Or there’s a problem and you don’t know what it is and there’s a spirit of counsel or whatever, just reach into it and the answer can come so quickly. Just like that, so you become sensitive to the anointings of the Spirit.
You may begin to get a sensation in your hands; it is a spirit of healing which is connected with the spirit of might. Sometimes the anointing just changes. And you learn to be sensitive to that. And that’ll stay for a while and then it’ll move again. But we learn to pick it up, we learn to be sensitive, just to be sensitive to it.
And sometimes it can be just a pressure, just a slight gentle pressure. And we pick up that anointing from that. And if you’re not sure what it was, try and reach out and see if you can perceive a very faint color. See if you can pick that out in the realm of the spirit because that will give you some idea as to what it is.
You learn to practice; you learn to move into it. Until you learn to move in the spirit, those anointings, the eyes of the Lord run to and fro. Ready to show himself strong to you, when you have purified your heart, or the spirit of the fear of the Lord will come to you to help you get your heart pure.
The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong to those whose heart is perfect towards Him. And there is a myriad of spirit beings which will bring an anointing across your life and over you. God wants us to move in the anointing. He will enhance us and bring us up into a whole new dimension. Hallelujah.
