When we are born from above our spirit received the very nature of God, the spiritual DNA of Jesus. This seed, when given the right conditions, will grow and bring forth the image of Jesus in us.
ROMANS 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
The problem we have is the incompatibility between our spirit and soul. Our soul has to come to rest for our spirit to flow out through it.
Our soul must go through a transforming process to come into unity with our spirit. If we are going to be sensitive to the Lord and walk with Him, our soul has to come to rest.
Self-pity, depression, jealousy, anger, resentment – all these set up a barrier, hindering Christ who is in our spirit from coming through our soul to the outside world. The unrenewed mind comes into conflict with the mind of Christ in us and becomes an enemy of God.
ROMANS 8:7 Because the carnal mind (natural mind) is enmity (an enemy) against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
When there is unity between our soul and spirit, the mind of Christ can flow through us easily. Our will is directly related to our spirit and it controls both our mind and emotions. God gave us a will in the new birth of the spirit so that we can choose as to how we are going to live. The will of our soul must be surrendered to God and His will.
Once we surrender our will to the Lord, we have to be careful to determine the mind or will of God and choose to follow it. This takes faith and trust in God.
Unity is first an inner quality. We must achieve unity or compatibility between our spirit and our soul; the two must become one for God to use us at the level He wishes to.
God is a being of light. Our spirit is a being of light. Our spirit is enclosed or housed in a physical body that has the ability to hinder that light from making its way to the outside.
PROVERBS 20:27 The spirit of man [is] the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
Our spirit is the lamp of the Lord, our soul and our bodies are filters. The level of darkness in your soul and body determines how much of the light of God you manifest.
We can be a born-again Christian but because of darkness in our soul, we don‘t manifest any light.
Darkness in the mind, wrong thoughts, and evil strongholds block light from penetrating into our soul.
Darkness in the body blocks light from penetrating into our body.
ROMANS 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
When the body and soul are pure, the light shines straight through.
Jesus faced many temptations while on earth, He passed many tests and when He reached a certain point in His earthly walk, He was transfigured while still in the flesh.
Now the Bible says that Jesus was the firstborn of many who would be like Him, He is the firstborn of the Sons of God.

ROMANS 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
MATTHEW 17:1. And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2. And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
As we continue to increase in purity, the light within us will begin to transform our physical bodies.
ISAIAH 60:1 1 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD shoots forth over you.
God will have a people in these last days who through the purity of their heart will come to a place where the light in their spirits will flow through their souls and bodies, transforming both.
These Christians will be transfigured while still in the flesh, every cell in their being will become energized, glorified, and redeemed.
