To walk with God we have to be aware of His presence. As we become aware of His presence, we are going to begin to sense his Glory. The Glory of God is the manifestation of His nature and abilities, it is the perfection of His character-out of which proceeds everything He thinks, feels, says and does.
The Glory of God is His love and all the attributes that distinguish it. All His works manifest His nature. He is absolutely Awesome! One glimpse of His Glory puts everything in its proper perspective.
To walk in His Glory, requires the revelation of it. It exposes what has been in our heart in a liberating way .The revelation of His Glory is a partaking of His wisdom; it is a convincing of the foolishness of living independent of Him.
His Presence illuminates, all that is in us that keeps us from knowing him and walking with Him in all that He has called us to be and do. His Glory reveals to us the basic flaws that keep us from knowing Him intimately.
There are certain things in us that will cut off the flow of His Spirit into us and through us. Character defects are displaced through the revelation of His Glory-(being aware of His Presence) – as His life begins to flow through us. The flow of His life into us imparts strength to resist that which wars against His Spirit. We have to be aware of them but we do not want to focus on them.
Our understanding will always be off if we are not filled with the Spirit. Deception comes from seeing the world through our perspective. Truth comes from seeing things from God’s perspective, seeing from the throne, seeing through His eyes. When we dwell in His presence we will not see anything but Glory, and victory! When we are dwelling in His Presence we have entered the heavenly realm, our life now has meaning, and we are no longer focused on the passing scene. We can never accurately see truth when we lose our spiritual condition.
The eyes of our spirit are the window or door to the realm of the spirit. The Spirit of God has to touch us for our spiritual eyes to open. When our eyes are open, His spirit flows into us.
Our spirit is dimensional; it exists in heaven and in us at the same time. When we are born from above our spiritual eyes are open. Our spiritual sight begins with just perceiving or sensing. Our spirit becomes conscious of the presence of God. Our spirit is God conscious; we become aware of His existence.
Before we were born again, we were not sure if God existed; now we know in our spirit, but we may still have doubts enter our mind (soul) but as long as our spirit is active they will be displaced.
As we learn how to walk in His presence our spirits perception will increase, until it flows into our soul, and we can see in the spirit with our eyes open.
If our spirit came out of our body we would see the spiritual realm clearly. Our physical brain and our physical eyes is what keep us, from seeing clearly in the Spirit.
We are a three part being and we have three sets of eyes. We are aware of our physical eyes because they see clearly the natural realm. The eyes of our soul are the screen of our mind or our imagination. When our brain waves slow down to the point of sleep our imagination becomes active as dreams. Our imagination is active when we are awake but most of the time we are not aware of it until we start day dreaming and we snap out of it as we become aware again of our natural surroundings.
Our physical brain is what locks us out of the realm of the spirit. This is why sometimes God has to bypass our brain and visit us in our dreams. The subconscious mind is closer to our spirit than our conscious mind.
The functions of our soul are conscience, reason, imagination, mind (conscious, subconscious, unconscious), emotions, choice, and will.
The conscious mind, the sub-conscious mind and the unconscious mind are organs of our soul. The life of God which contains God’s presence flows into our soul. Our soul interprets what our spirit is sensing and what our body is sensing.
Until we learn how to enter the realm of the spirit our soul is going to be more aware of what our body is sensing than what our spirit is sensing.
As we learn how to practice the presence of God and walk in it, the flow of the Spirit will increase so that our soul is more aware of what our spirit is sensing than what our body is sensing. This is called being filled with the Holy Spirit.
The renewing of our mind is progressive. We have to learn how to walk in His presence, through the infilling of the Spirit. We are commanded to be continually filled the Spirit.
We cannot walk in the Spirit until we learn how to be continually filled with the spirit, which open the door to the realm of the Spirit. To be in the Spirit is what John experienced in the book of revelation.
Revelation 4: 1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. 2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Through the infilling of the Spirit a door was opened in heaven and John heard a voice and immediately he was in the Spirit. He shifted dimensions and became aware of the spiritual realm, instead of the natural realm.
We have to keep asking, seeking, knocking and a door will be opened. We have to practice the presence of the Lord and walk in the spiritual principles that God reveals through His word.
When the Spirit of God reveals the word to us, if we will walk in the light of that word, we are on the path, the way of life, the increase of His Spirit in our lives.
Every time we feel His Presence, the Holy Spirit is touching us so that we may have fellowship with Him. When we have a meeting with the Lord, where His Spirit touches us, our mind becomes clear and focused. To touch the Lord is to make contact with Him where we partake of Him.
The fellowship of the Holy Spirit is where we are communing with Him. His thoughts are entering into us. We are experiencing Him, he is leading us. He is moving us. We are vessels that are to be filled with Him. The infilling of the Spirit is a result of coming into contact with His presence.
We have to learn how to abide in His Presence without becoming self-conscious and self-absorbed; this causes us to turn from the truth that is in Him to the deception that is still programmed in our mind. Until we learn how to be continually filled with His Spirit, we will be focused on our own inadequacies or failures. The key to walking in His presence is to learn how to abide in it without looking at ourselves.
We will not be able to hear from Him or speak for Him if we are looking at our self. In and of ourselves we will always be inadequate and unworthy. It is not our own righteousness, or ability that causes the Lord to use us. It is our awareness of His Spirit and moving in it, that accomplishes the will of God in the earth. Looking at our own adequacy is what disqualifies us, when the Lord uses us it is because of who He is.
The transformed life is an exchanged life; we exchange our strength and abilities for His. The Spirit of God expresses Himself through us, as we yield ourselves to Him to use. We have to be aware of Him, his attributes and abilities and allow them to flow through us. Through connection to His life, we can feel His energy flowing through us. The inflowing of His life causes a change in our thinking where we can see the beauty in His creation.
The life of God is like a river that is to be constantly flowing; we have to learn how to activate our spirit-to touch the Lord, to get the flow moving. Or to expose ourselves to Him, where He touches us, where the contact has been made. Once we have a conscious contact with God, then we can abide and walk in the presence of the Lord.
We are a container; the life of God is flowing into us to the point of overflowing, or the life of God is being drained from us through other things entering our heart. To be filled with the Spirit, is where our spirit and our soul are in contact and under the influence of His Spirit.
Rom7:21 I find then a law (a force or influence compelling to action), that, when I would (present continuous action, desire moving one to action) do (do-become) good, evil is present (occurring now, near to lie, ready to take control in a moment) with me.
Until we learn how to be filled with the Spirit and to walk in the Spirit we will not be able to displace the law of sin and death. As long as we are in a flesh and blood body-sin lies at the door, but through the law of the Spirit of Life we can rule over it, and not allow it to gain access to our heart.
22For I delight in (occurring now, to delight with oneself inwardly in a thing) the law of God after the inward man: 23But I see another law in my members, warring against the law (standard of judging) of my mind, and bringing me into captivity (present continuous action, to be held prisoner, to capture the attention or affection of and bring into subjection) to the law of sin (the governing principle personified) which is in my members.
When God enlightens us through the opening of our spiritual eyes, our spirit becomes alive unto God through contact with His Spirit and God’s will becomes a part of our spirit. Our spirit is now willing to serve God, and gives illumination to our soul-mind. Our soul-mind comes into agreement with God’s will, although our mind is not yet renewed.
The law of sin in our members will war against our illuminated mind, in order to captivate the mind. We do not in ourselves have a mental defense against sin. Our soul-mind has to be restored, renewed, conformed, transformed, through the infilling of the Spirit of God, until the eternal life of God is continually flowing into us and we are abiding in it.
Our brain is like a recording instrument. Once God opens our spiritual eyes our soul receives impressions from God. But our soul also receives impressions from the things of this world, and our brain has been trained in covetous practices. Our soul goes through a death, burial and resurrection process, until it is in total submission and agreement with the life of God.
24O wretched (afflicted, miserable, suffering from spiritual or emotional misery) man that I am! who shall deliver (more than merely rescuing from something but a drawing to the one who rescues, the drawing force of the Spirit that lifts us up out of danger and sets us free, to draw with force-violence and snatch-pull out of a current or force, like rescuing a drowning man from a river that keeps pulling him under, by pulling him to yourself) me from the body of this death?
Before the lord enlightened us we may have had pleasure in sin, but now our awareness has changed. Our consciousness is not in agreement with sin and becomes defiled by it and it clouds our relationship with God. Our brain is programmed-(involuntary) by our life experiences.
Our soul is basically our self awareness, and self has no power to overcome sin. There is a self-preservation instinct built inside of us, and self does not want to die. We need a power that is greater than ourselves, that is outside of us, to come into us and take over.
This power is manifested in our awareness of a person (Jesus) who reveals Himself to us through the presence of His Spirit. It is in our awareness of this Presence that we are lifted out of our self into intimacy with Him, liberating us from the power of sin. It is the place of meeting, where we come into contact with God’s Spirit, where He touches us-drawing us to Himself.
25I thank (to praise God for something showing oneself grateful) God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind (the seat of reflective consciousness) I myself serve (devoted to voluntary service) the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
The problem centers in the mind, but the root of the problem is self. Our individual self will is the problem. When God joins himself to our spirit, His will is imparted to it. We desire to do the will of God. The spirit of our mind is in agreement with God, but our consciousness is still aware of other desires that are contrary to God’s will. As our soul comes into conformity to the will of God through the continual infilling of His Spirit our soul becomes trained to reject that which is contrary to God’s will.
God first works in us to will-this is God working in our spirit. This desire must become so strong that it hungers and thirsts, and becomes all consuming. When we hunger and thirst for righteousness, then we are filled. When we are filled with the Spirit, His Spirit has comes upon us- His power is now present.
Just having the desire to serve God is not enough, we must have his power. This power is the result of not only our spirit desiring, but our soul being filled with the life of God.
The spirit of God must work in us to do-His will, this is God working in our soul. When we are filled with the Spirit, it displaces that which is contrary to his will so that there is nothing warning against our mind-because our mind is conscious of His presence. When we are consciously aware of His Presence we have the necessary power to do that which God is leading us to do.
Rom 8:1 There is therefore (since these things are so) now (at this time) no (not the least) condemnation (the sentence pronounced, justification is no condemnation) to them which are in (intimate union with, oneness of heart, mind and purpose) Christ (the anointing) Jesus (the one who saves), who walk (continuous action, the whole round of activities of the individual life, to be occupied with and follow) not (conditional negative) after (object aimed for) the flesh (desires of the fallen nature, natural ability), but (marks the opposite, on the contrary)after (motion, by means of, distribution, the word speaks of motion down upon-out over, speaking of the Spirit upon us)the Spirit.
When we learn how to worship the Lord, so that we are continually filled with His spirit, we come into a walk in the Presence of the Lord, where His Spirit is giving us the desire and the power to begin to function as a member of His body upon the earth. He has specific things that He desires to do, and has chosen to accomplish them through us. We are no longer living an independent life, but His Spirit is living through us. All our activities are in Him, we have learned how to walk in His Presence.
