Knowing Your Spirit

Resist not the words of the Lord, nor lightly cast them aside. For the Lord is teaching you to come into his presence and there receive the word that Jesus speaks and receive the blessing that shall burst forth into song. Give praise unto the Lord, give joy unto the Lord.

If there be a multitude of trial, still rejoice in the Lord. If there be a heaviness in thy spirit, regard it not, but rejoice in the Lord. The Lord is with thee to deliver thee, to help thee.

Now, there’s something here that I’d like to encourage you with as you’re worshiping the Lord. How many found that you were sort of restrained, and as you began to work at it, the restraint came off, the praise began to flow freer? Of course, we shouldn’t have that.

If we knew how to do this, we could do it almost in a matter of seconds before we ever come into church. We should come to church every time free, ready to move, ready to be a blessing.

We come to church with a purpose. And that purpose is that we are going to hear a word from the Lord. We’re going to break loose into the Spirit and learn how to worship God, learn how to praise God, learn how to prophesy, learn how to move in the Lord in the service as the body of Christ.

And everything I teach is just trying to encourage you to do it and try to help. And I think we must really contend for it. The enemy works overtime to stop the moving of the Lord.

We follow on to know the Lord. We come into this place where our spirit, actually connects and interacts with the Lord, then the Lord directs us, He puts the answer to our questions in our spirit.

And by putting the answer in our spirit, then where we’ve missed it, we come back into alignment. Some of the answers we receive from the Lord in the realm of the Spirit we may not have been able to bring it forth into the natural realm yet, but we inherit the promises of the lord through faith and patience, we need to be persistent. But everything we do contributes towards it.

For instance, If I stand in the presence of the Lord, in intercession, waiting on the Lord, I renew my strength. Is it mine, or is it the Lord’s strength? It’s put in my spirit. Of course, it’s my strength, but it actually comes from the Lord. He puts that strength in my spirit, or He writes a word of my heart. And when He gets through doing that, then I can stand forth and be a ministry. And anything that the Lord has put into my spirit, I can freely minister.

Freely you have received, freely give. This is why intercession should never stop until you have stood in the presence of the Lord, and He’s actually enveloped your spirit with the very answer.

God doesn’t meet you without giving you the answer in your spirit. You have it in yourself. From that time on, it’s a matter of initiative and execution.

We’ve always said that when we petition the Lord in prayer, it’s yes or no, or maybe later, but God always answers, but sometimes not yet. But if we keep seeking the Lord we will break through to it, and you’d have the answer. And if you’ve been praying wrongly, the Lord would show you immediately, right there, as you stood in His presence, because the answer that would receive would not be maybe according to what you had thought to receive, but it would be the right thing, and with it would come the knowledge that it was right, and you’d be able to go ahead in it.

The first step is to come into the presence of the Lord. It’s important that we become worshipers and any key that can be given to us to make us better worshipers of the Lord and bring us into the presence of the Lord should be followed. We need to Learn how to put it the words we receive from the Lord into action.

It is through that focus and that appropriation, that the release comes.

Simplifying things, makes it easier to break through.

We are bringing forth our spirit into a complete focus upon the spirit realm.

When we get in the Spirit our physical senses are sharpened up also. The Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is quickening your mortal body and the senses are becoming alive to God.

So, you have feelings over your hands and sometimes you see colors and sometimes your ears have a strangest feeling to them. Well, don’t be afraid of it because what you’re actually doing is coming into the realm of a company of prophets that are just standing before the Lord and praising Him and worshiping Him.

Sometimes we have a feeling in our nose, it’s the area of discerning of spirits. And often as you’re bringing, I try to explain to you that you’re trying to bring all of your feelings and your thoughts and your concentration forward into this area. And when you do that, you can get a great deal of focus on the Lord. And concentration could just stay for hours.

If you do it, have you done it and found that you get kind of dizzy with it? That’s natural too. What’s happening? You’re taking the whole anointing here and you’re bringing it into such a sharp focus that in the inner ears you’re reacting to it.

Your spirits are more known on the human level by the vibration they send forth than anything else. And you can perceive, discern. Sometimes they become quite strong, and you smell them through your nose. That’s right. They have quite an odor, strong odor of different types to them.

All right, let me ask you a question. Have you ever gone into a period where you’ve been really blessed and just all of a sudden it seemed like you were hit with something, had sort of an empty feeling, kind of a blank. You kind of went blank. And then pretty soon, just like you got into a state where there was nothing. You were just, here you were, numb, nothing happening.

Now, some of you were doing that tonight and didn’t know what to do with it, so you just kind of sit down, thought, well, what’s happening?

But you see, your spirit can be so drawn unto the Lord that there’s no real evidence in your physical senses left to you. Oh, you know what’s going on, but your kind of numb to everything. Now, if you would accept during that time with faith and know that something was being ministered into your spirit by the Lord, and when the full consciousness of your spirit returned to you, you’d be aware of a great deposit having been made.

But see, some people at that moment exercise such unbelief. Oh, I went dead. What happened to me? I’m just dead now. Instead of accepting by faith, the spirit had been drawn to the Lord and waiting until the spirit would return with all the blessings and the joys that would be yours and the answer to be yours and the reassurance that would be yours in that.

That’s what you should do. Take it by faith. Really enter into it by faith. Anyone that exercises their spirit toward the Lord will have a time in which you suddenly feel like everything went blank for you. You don’t know what to do. What do you do?

Just trust the Lord then, rejoice. How many have seen that thing happen to me during the Feast of Tabernacles? I just wasn’t there, couldn’t even think, couldn’t even function at that time, but it was hours later when my spirit, my consciousness of my spirit’s enrichment returned to me, I was aware of many, many answers, and I’ve been able to draw on them ever since.

Answers that had come, just like it’s just planted in your memories and in your spirit, and when you need it, you start drawing on it. But at the moment, you can’t say, well, what did you see? Nothing. What did you hear? Nothing. What did you feel? Nothing. Not consciously.

But if you’d accept the faith because you sense the Lord has drawn your spirit into Himself, there to communicate with it and to write into it things that must be for the will of God to be done in your life. And then afterwards, it’s all right. I could give you a very simple illustration.

Have you ever been reading the Bible and really enjoying it, down verse after verse and something real alive and then all of a sudden, wham, you were aware that you were looking and you were getting nothing. Word after word after word, and you weren’t getting a thing. You weren’t reading anything; nothing was coming through.

Now you read other books, and it doesn’t happen that way. But you read the Bible and all of a sudden, you cannot concentrate and you’re painstakingly reading every word and nothing’s sticking in your mind. Well, now, then you wonder, what on earth happened?

Well, you see, the Lord was speaking to you, and all of a sudden that word was so alive to you that your spirit made a contact with the Lord, and your conscious mind stopped functioning with its normal concentration.

And what you should do is just stop and just kind of praise the Lord and worship the Lord, because then go back into that word that was alive to you, and you’ll find out the Spirit of God was teaching you something about it.

Something I ought to tell you how I read the Bible. I think it would be one of the greatest things for you to learn how to read the scripture. You say, well, I know how to read. You just open the book, and if it’s in English, you start at this end. If it’s in Hebrew, you start back here. All right, all right, all right. So, you know. But do you know how to read?

Do you know that the Holy Spirit can teach you how to read until He can expound and make alive and write on your spirit the thing that’s coming? The idea is to get the blessings from the cold page, black and white page, until it’s written on the tablets of your heart. That’s the idea.

And when it’s living there, really alive there, then the whole Spirit starts bringing it forth and making it work again and again. That’s why many people don’t read the Word. It’s because they read along and all of a sudden it goes dead on them. So, well, they say, I can’t get into it. They’re into it and they don’t know how to read it.

If they just stop and worship the Lord and let the Lord make that thing so alive to them, all of a sudden, it’d just be just living to them. The Lord has a way of doing this.

He says, oh, I want to know the whole Word. Well, I’d like to know just a little of it. I’d really know it, you see. You see, really, really know it. We’ll have it really living, really alive. Oh, we’ve got so much to gain yet. But you see, this will help you.

Now, the same thing’s true in your service. You’re going along, and have you ever noticed that’ll happen to you in preaching? The preacher will be preaching along to you. I don’t expect everybody to get the whole sermon. I’m thankful they get a point or two. Just what God wants them to get.

But I know I’m preaching along and all of a sudden. They’re not with me anymore. There’s half of them over here, a few over here. I know what they’re doing. The Lord quickens something so real to them.
