1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.
What is the new birth? It is Christ being born in our spirit. The word Christ means the anointed one or the Messiah. Jesus is the Christ. When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savor, Christ is born in our spirit. Christ is synonymous with the living word and the anointing in us.
We are born from above through the word of God, which is the seed of God.
1 John 3: 9 Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
Christ in us or the seed of God in us cannot sin. Our spirit, soul and body can sin, but Christ in us can never sin.
This is why we must join our spirit to the Christ within us, so that his life flows into our spirit, soul, and body.
1 Corinthians 6:17 the one now joining himself to the Lord is one spirit- The Greek-English interlinear New Testament.
The word join in the Greek is in the present tense not the past tense so it is better translated joining not joined past tense, because it is something we must continually do, because the moment we join our spirit to the lord his life flows into it.
The word one is numerical in the Greek which means one spirit not two, so that when we join our spirit to the Lord it becomes one spirit, not two spirit.
The word one in the Greek is numerical meaning one, not two. So, when we join our spirit to the Lord it becomes one spirit not two individual spirits.
Now it is hard to join our spirit to the Lord’s if we have not been baptized in the Spirit, with the evidence of speaking in tongues, because we may not be aware of our spirit.
But it is still possible because we are born again and Christ is in our spirit, but we must be aware of the fruit of the Spirit, Christ’s love, joy, peace and so forth, which is different than our human emotions.
The fruit of the Spirit are God’s emotions, but we need to act on them, or we will not bear fruit. The fruit is in Christ in our spirit but acting on them is expressing that fruit.
When we speak in tongues, we are immediately aware of our spirit, because our spirit is doing the speaking as the Holy Spirit gives us utterance, this means our spirit is joined to the Lord at that moment.
Now we can speak in our spirit silently because our physical mouth does not have to speak out loud words, we do it silently in our spirit.
When we are baptized with the Spirit our whole being is filled with the Spirit, spirit, soul, and body, causing our soul to be aware of the Lord.
If our soul is not constantly aware of the presence of the Lord, it means the life of God, which is Christ in us, is not flowing through our spirit into our soul.
Now our spirit, soul and body have senses or functions. We will start with the body; the body has five senses or functions. 1- physical sight, 2- hearing, 3- taste, 4- touch, and 5- smell. Our body also has a physical brain, that cannot think for itself, it is like a computer, and must be programmed. What it has is memory that has been programmed since we were a baby, by our life experiences. It records everything, but also erases some of our experiences unless they have some emotionally significance, it usually remembers the good experiences and forgets the bad one’s unless they were traumatic.
The best way to program it is through repetition, that is why it is important to confess the word, if we keep confessing the word it will become part of our brain’s memory.
If we have practiced bad habits they are programed into our brain, and the thoughts of those habits will be triggered and the program runs, which is thoughts or temptations to continue practicing them. This is why becoming a doer of the word of God will reprogram our brain.
Our soul is the human part of us which gives us self-awareness. It has seven functions or senses. 1-will, our will is sovereign. 2-choice is different from our will because we can be willing to do the right thing but choose to do the wrong thing. 3- mind. Our mind has three functions a-conscious, b-subconscious, c- unconscious. 4- reason is different from our mind because we can reason things out and animals cannot, they function by instinct. 5- emotions. 6-imagination. 7 conscience which is a function of our soul not our spirit.
All the functions of our soul need to be renewed or transformed if we are going to learn how to walk with God.
Our spirit has at least nine functions or senses that operate when Christ is born in our spirit.1- first love. This occurs when we are first born again, our spirit becomes aware of God. Our spirit gives us God consciousness and the unseen realm of the spirit consciousness which must be developed. When we experience Christ being born in our spirit, we experience the love of God for us and all the rest of the fruit of the spirit.
The next sense of our spirit is the 2- fear of God. We realize that in our humanness we are incompatible with God, he is holy, and we are not. Our spirit can tune into the fear of God and the revelation of his divine nature flows into us and we begin to tremble seeing the filthiness of our sinful life according to the flesh.
The next sense of our spirit is 3- worship. When we realize that our old man was crucified with Christ and that now God sees us perfect in Christ, we can begin to worship him in spirit and truth and feel his presence.
The next sense of our spirit that begins to function is 4- reverence or godliness. We begin to honor God with our lives by doing that which is pleasing in his sight. We can sense if we are honoring God in the things we say or do, or if we are not.
Then next function of our spirit is 5-intuition. We can sense in our spirit intuitively what we ought to be doing and not doing. Our spirit not the Holy Spirit convicts us when we do something wrong.
The next function of our spirit is 6-revelation. The Holy Spirit reveals who we are in Christ and teaches us all the truth through our spirit in what is called revelation knowledge. This occurs in our spirit and our spirit will witness to it. It comes from the inside out, not from the outside. If we live in our mind, we will never know the truth but live in deception. And every Christian is in deception, because we have learned things from other people and not direct revelation from the Holy Spirit because hearing his voice is a quest because we have been listening to hundreds of other voices, other than his and this is why we must become a bondservant of the Lord.
The next function of our spirit is 7-faith, God imparts his faith to our spirit. 8-hope, God imparts his hope to our spirit. 9-prayer. Prayer is two way communication we talk to God and he talks back to us, if you never experienced this you really do not know how to pray, you are basically asking God to do something that might not be his will, because you have not yet learned how to hear his voice.
